I'm a London-based photographer, regularly covering major events on the London alternative/fetish/burlesque scenes for various websites and magazines, as well as more mainstream events, club nights, and gigs.
For me the background is almost as important as the foreground, so I prefer location shoots to studio work.
Naturally I am looking for paid assignments & commissions, but will occasionally consider TFP/CD if the shoot will be particularly fun/interesting/unusual or rewarding in some other way (e.g. publicity).
And I always aim to turn around photos within two weeks (in practice usually within a week), not two months!

Hey Marcus, I use 2 Canon 5Ds, and all "L" professional level lenses. I also use softboxes and certain techniques to make the light as soft as possible too.
Quality equipment & technique combined would net the crisp photos. Kevin
