Hello there,
///// Currently back home in AK ////// Let's shoot
Things changed recently, I got really busy with work, so I shoot less, but that does not mean I quit. I still travel, just not as extensively.
Even though I work from home my schedule is really hectic. The best way to plan shoots is currently play it by the ear and be ready to shoot at short notice.
These are some of the places I've been recently:
Kyiv, Ukraine - home place
Calgary, AB, Canada - once a year?
Denver, CO, USA - once-twice a year?
Oklahoma City, OK, USA - once a year?
Honolulu, HI, USA - once-twice a year
Houston, TX, USA - 1-2-3 times a year
Lafayette, Shreveport, LA, Marshall, TX area - questionable
Aberdeen, Scotland, UK - once a few years
Bangkok, Thailand - once a few years
What I'm doing currently: COLLECTING LOCATIONS and shoot there whenever possible. I'm looking for locations, locations, locations to shoot. I'm bored with studio settings, unless that's one hell-of-a-great studio

Just like in real estate, locations, locations, locations.
Have anything in mind? A rooftop, a military bunker, a shipwreck, old rusty cabin, huge mansion, royal palace, elegant interior in some house, rotten and forgotten school... really, anything that's not a usual mainstream look - let me know, we can do something there.
What I'm trying to capture:
Mood. Emotions. Tears. Smile. Seduction. Shy look. Bitch. Angel. Beauty. Beast. Feelings. Got one of them - great... Got a few - we're rocking. Got all of them - we're burning it all
Elegance. Style. Nothing vulgar. Nothing ordinary. If it is glamour - let's make it sensual or gothic but not vulgar and ordinary... If it is casual - let's make it feel like it is not just something.
Concepts: If we're working more then once (and I'm trying to work with people multiple times to develop this professional/friendly relationship which transforms into great images via trust) you'll most likely know about those concepts from me. Please ask otherwise:
"Statue" - let know if you'd like to be my statue
"Alphabet" - body shapes
"Folk" - says it all
"Available light" - trying to catch that light without flashes and strobes
"Elegance" - I always want to meet people with feel of elegance they can share in images... Your mood, your feel, your look - all can be elegant... Let's make series with that
"Transformations" - series of your transformation from one person/mood to another... It can be emotional, it can be visual, just change in series of images...
There is more, more, more, we're creating those concepts as we go. If we're talking - let's talk concepts and create... indoor/outdoor - does not matter, let's create.

A bit about me - born'n'raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, ukrainian geologist who came to US for doctorate studies, and found a job after that. Most of my travels are work-related, but I travel for pleasure too. I did start shooting when I was grad student, shot a lot of northern lights which taught me to be patient and to look for explanation of failures not in equipment but how I handle it. Landscapes, people shooting followed...
I continue working on my photoshop editing capabilities, getting not bad at it, see for your self in images. I do use available and controlled lights, but prefer catching the perfect moment with available light...
N.B. As many people ask how I handle nudity issue let me address that.
I adore elegance. That includes bare body. I love body shapes, I want to create with the shape, feel, emotions, everything nature gave to our bodies. I respect those not being afraid to show themselves and those not willing to - it is one's choice. I only can suggest nudity (full, partial, does not matter) if I see it will benefit the image, the concept. I expect my models/MUA/stylist to do the same - say it if you feel it, if you see if can make the image better - say it. If you feel like being that way will create mood desired/needed - say it and we can try. Once said - it would be a matter of choosing, and both sides, photographer and model should want shoot that. I know if even one side does not want to do it the images will show that, so why bother? But if we're looking to create something with it - let's do it.
