Probably the best way to organise a shoot with me is to contact with a list of specific dates you are available. Do not send emails saying "Oh i'm available in November etc etc...".If you give me specific dates I can let you know and get back to you and organise shoot.
Frequently asked questions - Remember if you take offence, ask yourself..."does this apply to me?"....I don't know you....but if you are offended..what does it tell you?
Q:How much do you charge?
A:Depends on the shoot and what you require.Its usually an hourly rate, but I can structure a price based around your budget.
Q: Do you shoot TFCD?
A:Yes I do. Usually with models I have worked with before or models who have a great concept/attitude/idea.
Q:If I shoot TFCD how many images will I get?
A:10 editted images, in both large format and email/web size.
Q:Why dont I get ALL the images from the shoot?
A: I dont want shots i'm not happy with out there floating around. Also why do you want 10 frames of the same pose, or shots where you are blinking, or unflattering or with a fly on your nose? 10 Images is above the industry standard for TFCD. Also I shoot in RAW format,which means each individual image has to be converted into a graphic file you can use on your computer or printer.
Q:Can I pick my ten photos?
A:Yes you can, or you can let me pick. Im happy to do either.
Q:What can I do with my images?
A: Anything you want. They are yours to do with as you wish.
Q:When will I get my images?
A:I MAY send you a cpl via email within the first couple of days, but generally 2 weeks from the shoot is standard turn-around time.
Q:My friend said if I become a famous model I have to give the photographer half the money from the images.Is this true?
A:Unfortunately for me, no. If you sell the images you get (of you) then you get all the money. Some of the models I have worked with have had images published or used in promotional portfolios. I would appreciate a ''credit'', but otherwise they are yours to do as you see fit.
Q:My boyfriend says i'm really pretty. So I think i'll do you a favour and let you take some photos of me.
A:Your boyfriend wants to have sex with you.....so he will say what he has to so that a certain response is illicited. You aren't doing me a favour, and you are probably average looking. The digital age has caused a proliferation of what I call 'boyfriend pretty' girls who are happy to have photos taken by a guy who got his camera off ebay and has no ability or knowledge how to use it.You are a dime a dozen.On the other hand if you are polite, respectful and have a cooperative attitude I am more than happy to work with you.If you take this as a personal insult....then it probably applies to you....
Q:So who owns the images, me or you?
A: I own the images, but you have unlimited and unrestricted usage of them.Whoever takes a photo (generally speaking) owns the image.
Q:My boyfriend/dad/mum/psychologist says that photographers are just trying to get girls naked and have sex with them.Is this right?
A:Your boyfriend/dad/mum/psychologist MAY be right. That is why it is important to check references and do your research before you do a shoot.A lot of models I have shot with several times. So based on that you are safe to shoot with me, or they came back for more
. I prefer to meet a model beforehand for a coffee an discuss the shoot. I am happy for you to bring mum/dad/boyfriend/parish priest to this meeting....just not to the shoot.
Q:Why dont you allow escorts?
A:I have had bad experiences with escorts of both sexes at shoots and find they interfere with the whole flow of the shoot. I always shoot with a female assistant at a shoot and if I can't have an assistant there for whatever reason, i'll postpone the shoot.Once again this comes back to checking references.(see above)
If you don't feel safe enough shooting with me WITHOUT an escort, then why are you shooting with me at all? Think about it.....
Q:Why do I have to sign forms before we shoot. The other photographers never made me sign forms?
A: You sign a general waiver/release and a TFCD contract stating you understand what you are receiving out of the shoot. Both are standard and I can email these to you prior. In many years of shooting I've never once had a problem with these.The other guys probably never made you sign a form because they aren't professional.
Q:Why do I need photo ID?
A: To say that you are the person signing the waiver. I know you prefer the name "Glam Girl Gillian"...but you cant sign forms in that name

Q:I see you shoot a lot of nudes. I dont want to do nudes.
A: Thats fine. I generally discuss either via email or meet in person the exact nature of the shoot. I will never 'spring'on you,something mid shoot. I am happy to shoot nudes, but I generally dont do that first shoot anyways. If you are uncomfortable doing something, I wouldnt want to shoot it anyways...it will show in the shots. Some of the best shots I have were taken when just chatting to the model where she is relaxed and happy.Thats when you get good shots.
Q:I'm really new and I'm not a very good poser.Would you still shoot with me.
A: If you have a good attitude and are keen, then thats 99% of the battle. Everything else can be sorted out.
Q:Can you edit out my hips/fat rolls/double chin?
A: Im a photographer, NOT a graphic designer. I'll do basic edits ( ie:blemishes) etc, but not major alterations.Lay off the cakes and hit the gym. It's not my problem to fix your cellulite at 19 years of age.
Q:I'm under 18, will you shoot with me?
A: Yes. You need to fill out a seperate form and have a parent or guardian present at the shoot. Alternatively they can nominate in writing that my female assistant be present in lieu of them.
Q:I'm under 18,but I'm happy to shoot nudes. Will you shoot nudes with me?
A:No.Never.Come and see me when you're 18, and if you've already asked me as a juvenile, i'll still say no.You are trouble or mentally ill....or both.
Q: Do you ever work with male models?
A: I have.Male models of high calibre are harder to find though, but yes.
Q:I'm a model and want to get some couple shots with my boyfriend.
A:Good for you.I'm not the photographer for you.
Q:My boyfriend wont let me shoot lingerie/nudes/swimwear/covered in grease.
A: He wont ''let you''???????.....hmmm....healthy relationship with great long term prospects.
Q:I'm a model and I have a girlfriend who wants to do some modelling shots.
A: She will go through same process as anyone else emailing me. I'm happy to shoot with anyone, but i'll require at least 4 CURRENT photos to make an assessment if she is suitable.
Q:You sorta' seem rude and abrupt. Is this the case?
A:Yeah, but I take good photographs....The reason i'm abrupt is I get that many flakes and timewaster that I start to get a bit jaded with 'models''....I had a model tell me she couldn't give me her real name because she was in 'witness protection''....so if you expect me be that guilable, then you are stupid.Once again...check references.

Q: I see you are in Newcastle, but i'm in Sydney.Do you come to Sydney often?
A:Generally, in short....No.....but I can, or I am happy to help with travel expenses if the concept is worth shooting.No harm in asking.
Q:Whats the postcode of Newcastle/how far is it from Sydney....because I have never left the bubble I live in?
A:Here is a wild idea. Do your research BEFORE you apply for a casting. Alternatively get on the internet and use google. Its not a hard application to use, even for teenagers who know everything.

A:Lay off the billies....if you can't get here, why would you apply to shoot with me? Be a grown-up and get your driver's licence/buy a train ticket ...or....dont apply for the casting.

Q:What concepts are you doing at the moment?
A: Im definately not shooting fashion or swimwear at the moment. My focus is more to the darker/artisitic style of image.If you have something like this I'm keen to discuss it.I am also into 'storyboard'type multiple images at the moment.I have several examples of these with Miss Cass and other models in my portfolio.
Q:I'm an alternative model with lots of tattoos and piercings.Will you shoot with me.
A:Yes.Definately.
Q: Do you use a studio?
A:No. I generally use natural light and shoot at locations.Such as the shot below.If you have access to a location, then I can work a concept around it.
Q:So do I just turn up?
A: No....but you will need to discuss the concept/location etc for shoot with me. If you think you " just turn up" and get good photos then you are stupid.
Q:I'm too busy to plan a shoot with you because I am really important and what-not....but i'm still happy to LET you shoot me....
