MODELING AND FAT KITTY INSPIRATION
I’m Alison and I founded Fat Kitty Studios in 2006. I am well versed in the commercial and editorial photography and publishing industries, beginning with modeling as a child. I modeled in NY and LA until the age of 30, when I retired to a more relaxed geography and lifestyle.

EDITORIAL
I was first published at 8 years old and have a strong affinity for and understanding of publishing and journalism. My first magazine position as a teenager introduced me to typesetting, quickly moving on to writing, then editing. I work as a staff reporter and photographer for a local paper to this day.

CURRENT PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE
I have 2 distinct shooting styles and markets: I’m primarily a tight shooter focused on interesting compositions. I am also a photojournalist and occasional opportunist as required by my clients. I shoot events for one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It takes nerves of steel to be in a room with the most powerful people on the planet knowing you’ve got seconds sometimes to get the shot with no possibility of a do-over. You either get that shot or you’re done. I love that.

OTHER THINGS
I am a former board member of an art gallery and also a former board member of an influential artists association in my state. Both organizations do all sorts of benevolent things for its artists, including artist assistance of nearly every kind. I was also on our scholarship committee, which allocates funds to college bound students accepted to an accredited art school.

As insane as this might be, I am currently putting together a business plan to launch a clothing line. The concept is now in its 3rd iteration and is coming along nicely with assistance from some very smart folks. Right now the line is very targeted and the business model is wholesale. It's going to take an overwhelming amount of work and an obscene amount of money. But the market is huge and underserved. I'm either a genius or a complete idiot. Time will tell.
