Restrained PHOTO is BDSM fetish work for exhibitions, books and web sites.

The dark, rich, story-telling photos from Restrained PHOTO are the product of one man's imagination, fueled by years of fiction, television, movies and porn.

RP credits early influences such as the British television show The Avengers and the artists John Willie, Irving Klaw and Bilbrew with early exposure to restraint, peril and excitement.

These images are meant to spawn something in your head. If that doesn't work, don't worry; that just means your normal.

Many photographers claim "15 years of experience" or "I'm a professional photographer" while their work shows they've yet to figure out how to run their camera, use light to illustrate an idea or a figure, or how to create an image that evokes a significant response. Professional and experienced models get paid for their time working with Restrained PHOTO, either in cash or trade (you decide). Newbie models and those whoa are just dabbling will have to test first. May 2009 update: I'm not booking any more paid shoots until further notice.

Models: listen up!

Are you a newbie? Are you a professional model? Either way, you have to treat modeling like a job and check references before wasting your time on deadbeat or scammer photogs.

It is honestly sad when someone stands you up for a shoot or, worse yet, shoots with you and then skates out without paying. That sucks, cuts into your livelihood and makes this gig less appealing. For us legit photogs, it makes us look bad as well.

Avoid it all together: check references before agreeing to do a shoot. Ask to see the release beforehand. Demand to see payment before you start shooting. Bring an escort.

Those of us who care and treat this as a career, a profession, won't mind. We want you to enjoy the work, get paid, and look forward to working together again.

If you're new to modeling, you should spend a bit of time checking out this site www.newmodels.com to answer some of your career questions and set your expectations. If you plan to be a fetish model, you can throw out all the must-be-this-tall and must-be-in-NYC comments, but some of the rest of the site's guidance is good.
