I have tons of fun when I shoot. I am filled with energy, very active and very vocal with my models- give lots of direction and also enjoying and incorporating models ideas as they are presented to me. The best shoots for me are those where my models and I can build up an energetic back-and-forth synergy together.
I was born in 1979 into a family of musicians and writers. I fell in love with photography when I was 13 and, luckily, I had a photogenic, cooperative, impossibly freckled little sister, Rachel, with whom to endlessly practice my craft. I then studied Photography for college Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
I currently live and work in New York as a Fine Art and Commercial Photographer. I am represented by Caprice Horn Gallery in Berlin and my images are sold in galleries internationally. I have worked for Clients including Life, New York Times, Surface, Visionaire, Sony Records, Rolling Stone, Playgirl among others.
I have been the recipient of multiple awards, among then, Surface Magazine's Avant Guardian, Jen Beckman's Hey Hot Shot, Art and Commerce's Emerging Photographer, and recently one image was chosen (1/60) out of 15,000 images for the 2nd Annual Photography Masters Cup.
With my spare time, I arrange and perform in a Bulgarian acapella Vocal Quartet, Black Sea Hotel, based here in Brooklyn.
And, since 1997, which is now creeping up on 10 years, I have taken a Polaroid of myself everyday. I plan on pursuing this project for life.
