_____________COMING TO SAN FRANCISCO SOON!______________
TRAVEL NOTICE: 6/25/13 - 7/7/13 | Visiting San Francisco Bay Area
_________________________________________________________
*Please note: my hair has changed and I now have bangs, but everything else is the same.
I'm goofy, I'm playful and kinda downright weird... allow the following mirror-selfies to illustrate my point: My face Feb. 11th, 2013.
My best
Cara Delevingne
I am also a photographer. I go by
EDMARK. Recent couple's portrait/self-portrait below I did of me and my bf.
>> What I'm after: I gravitate toward anything that evokes a sense of being lost in another time, or captures a mood. My natural aesthetic tends to be dramatic, dark and romantic, though caustic and industrial has a special kind of appeal. I have an affinity for the fetish community, though I don't identify as an 'alt' or 'fetish model' per se (I have no tattoos and my piercings are very tame--limited to my ears). At this point in time I'd like to make great art, gripping images, and add a few iconic portraits to my portfolio.
Life is but a dream. Visit my Tumblr to get a better idea of the kinds of shots that really inspire me.
>> On the flip side, however, while I'm willing to give anything a try you might have in mind, there are a few kinds of photographers I'll likely suggest my rates to as the following genres aren't the type of work I'd display in my portfolio: the list includes photographers with a strong emphasis on nature, study of the figure, bodyscapes, traditional fine art nude, boudoir (except when done exceptionally well), boorishly sexual (which is not to say 'sexy', but if your portfolio resembles the former I wouldn't expect you to recognize the difference anyhow), portfolios which might be considered 'safe', amateur or less developed than my own. If you see yourself fitting into any of the above categories please don't be offended if I respond with my rates.
>> An artist first and foremost. It is with this mindset that I approach all creative projects. I have a degree in fine art with a background in post-modern and contemporary art history and devoted a majority of my life to the study of drawing and oil painting (since about the age of 5 or 6) prior to entering the world of commercial photography as a portrait photographer. I have spent 10 years shooting photos behind the camera, 7 of those professionally. I started out shooting film, managing dark rooms, teaching the fine art of printing black and white, finally shelving it all upon making the leap to digital in 2006. I have a great appreciation for and understanding and awareness of all that goes into traditional and alternative photographic processes (standard silver gelatin, daguerrotype, tintype, platinum/palladium, 669 polaroid, medium and large format film, Hasselblad 503C/W, Mamiya 7, Rollei systems, etc). You could call it a little love affair of sorts. To add to that, I make clothing and props for shoots when applicable. I also play classical piano and record and produce music (posting some examples soon) ... a veritable plethora of creative projects on the table. I am utterly passionate about all things creative--I just wish there was more money in it. I'd be so rich.
>> Working with me kinda goes like this: I am a little bit of a contradiction -- Introverted in person, yet daring. I enjoy the challenge of a really edgy concept. My personality is very easy-going. I'm really not your typical prissy girl. I can hike, climb trees, climb fences, trudge through mud, bear frigid temperatures while holding contorted poses on one leg (thanks Yoga!), etc. I've spent a total of 24 years playing competitive sports combined and am comfortable pushing my limits. I'm open to just about anything, so don't hold back! If I feel that a photographer would be open to or overtly asks my opinion, I occasionally offer input, suggestions and feedback and am capable of actively collaborating to whatever degree of involvement is desired. I'm good with ideas/wardrobe/hair/makeup/props/locations,etc. I can take on as much or as little of shoot prep as you'd like. I'm also proficient in photoshop and am capable of retouching photos from our shoot myself, that is, at the photographer's request. Some photographers would never in a million years consider allowing anyone other than themselves to tamper with their work, which I completely understand, while others have sent me all the hi-res jpegs and left me to my own devices. It's really a matter of how the photographer would like to approach it. I'm happy either way, frankly. There are several examples of my photo retouching above, below and in my portfolio.
