Peek Physique

I have been photographing the male physique for many years.  Normally I work on a trade basis and am selective about who I work with.  My goal is to build up a body of work and pursue exhibition and publishing opportunities. 

I am grateful to the Model Mayhem site as it has been very beneficial to be a member of this community.  Thank you to all the models I have worked with and all the people who have communicated with me here in one way or another.

My work is influenced by three things:

1)  My entire first year as a photo student at Rochester Institute of Technology, we were not allowed to crop our pictures, thus I learned to frame each image in the viewfinder and eliminate "noise" before clicking the shutter.

2)  I work in journalism and take subjects as they come.  I don't try to change models, I try to photograph them to make them look their best.  My photos would work well in newspapers and magazines because that is what I know.

3)  I lost my hearing slowly when I was growing up, and as a deaf person I need to focus and eliminate distractions.  You will see evidence of this in my work, with many images containing only what is needed to convey a message.

But what it comes down to is a reverence for the male physique at its peak, an understanding of its fleeting nature and a desire to capture it at its finest.

People ask me about photographing women.  It's not that I'm opposed to the idea, it's just that the opportunities don't present themselves and I don't seek them out.  I think I would photograph women in the same natural no-frills way I photograph men.
