My name is Christine Stoddard and I am a writer and interdisciplinary artist from Arlington, VA. I have interest and experience in theatre, film, publishing, and gallery work that primarily draws upon my natural skills as a writer and storyteller. Most of visual and performing art hinges upon my narrative talents--whether that means writing the poem that accompanies my drawing/photograph, penning the words to my monologue, throwing handwritten scrolls to audience members, collaborating with other artists to produce a work that tells a story in some shape or form.
Alternative modeling definitely attracts me because it helps me develop my skills as an actress and my abilities as a storyteller. I am also simply drawn to intriguing images; if I can some way help in creating such an image, so much the better.
I rock a bohemian style, encompassing mostly neo-Victorian, Edwardian, "ethnic", and WW2 and 1980's details. (To learn more about my style and fashion philosophies, visit my fashion blog at
www.paisleyandparasols.com.) However, I am always open to new and edgy ideas--or precedented ideas with a slight twist. If you can suggest something with a fantastical undertone, you'll probably manage to interest me pretty quickly. Under the right circumstances, though, more conventional 'beauty' or 'glamour' modeling may catch my fancy, as well.
My modeling goals include appearing in magazines, flyers, catalogs, and websites or in artistic contexts, like book projects/gallery settings/art journals. Allow me to elaborate upon the latter; I have several ideas and you may have several more. If you have written a fictional story that needs visuals, why not take photos of me acting as the female character? Need a fairytale-themed greeting card? I'll pose as your Snow White or Cinderella. We can create an unusual and memorable project together.
At least commercially speaking, modeling elegant Gothic (the lacy Victorian/Edwardian breed), Steam punk, hippie, and other alternative styles most appeals to me. This does not mean that I am not open to other styles and ideas, however. I AM. Just contact me and ask!
I do all of my own hair and makeup. I also gladly style my clothes, unless you already have a particular outfit in mind. I own a large and varied wardrobe, and know where to cheaply buy some of the best alternative fashions in the Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA areas.
Please approach me with acting projects, too!
