Hailing out of Oakland (The Bay Area) California where artist were formerly known for the Hyphy Movement, Yogy brings lyrics, ambition and life back into the creativity of Northern California hip hop. After growing up changing homes frequently between Oakland and San Francisco due to his father’s imprisonment and single mother struggling to raise a growing boy, change, diversity and self-determination describes the music and lifestyle Yogy embodies. While being confused at first listen being from the East Coast with his strong delivery, high pitched vibrato and lyric content, Yogy lets it be known that he is indeed a strong representative of west coast hip hop. Now revamping his image from a young artist to a Man with a message, he shows this change with the roots in his visual for his new single “Mackin’ & Hangin’ ” which was inspired by Oakland Black Panther Activist Huey P Newton’s famous chair photo. Yogy is now branding his new album “Kings Wear Crowns” which also includes clothing line and flash video game being created with the same moniker. With limited success, some record label interest in the beginning of his short career Yogy is looking to bring Nor Cal back on a mainstream scale. With Legends such a San Francisco’s own Big Rich and the face of Oakland Too $hort stating that “Yogy is the next big thing out of the bay area” this process shouldn’t be difficult. Keep an eye out for the self-proclaimed born King, Yogy.
