About Me

Hi. I’m jack… I'm a photographer. I have an identical twin brother but don’t worry my mother assured me that I was definitely jack. We grew up in Baltimore, MD (yes, I love crabs) where we both attended The Baltimore School for The Arts. I fell in love with the production process (and a few ballerinas for that matter) while studying Theater Production at BSA. I received an amazing education in real life lighting, sound and video production. It was a one of a kind experience.

After studying Video Production at The Sheffield Institute for Recording Arts and tiring of working for theaters as a lighting designer and audio technician, I wanted to own my own business. After two tumultuous but profitable years with Fish AVI, Inc., my partner and I disbanded and I headed for the California coast.

Realizing I needed to truly master and understand a still image before I could continue shooting motion, I set off to do just that at Santa Monica College. Then I bought a sailboat. I live, I love, I scuba dive, I barbecue, I sail back and forth to the island, and most important, I spend a lot of money on my boat. I’m on a quest for the best fried chicken.

My approach to this bio is the same approach I take when conceptualizing with a client be it on set or on the phone. That approach is genuine, whimsical, yet professional and exacting.

A mentor showed me it was okay to be an artist. She told me to do everything I could do and try anything I wanted to do. So I do. I’ve been a DJ, a bartender, a boat captain, a gondoliere, a videographer, an editor, a tour guide, a lighting designer, an audio engineer, a secretary, and a salesman. A lover and a friend. But I will always be a student. I’m a student of light. I’m always looking for it, always learning from it.
