Hi, my name is Arie and I'm a photographer in the Houston area. I love photography and capturing the beautiful things in the world. I'm continuously doing my best to become a better photographer and doing my best to keep my photography and lighting gear up to date (which is sometimes hard since I don't make a living from photography) .
My style of photography is still evolving but my goal is to take pictures that are pleasing to the eyes both technically and artistically and let the picture speak for itself. While I post process all my pictures to correct exposure, remove temporary blemishes, and sometimes change the "feel" of the picture, I am very much against photoshopping pictures to the point where it alters the model's real life beauty (making them thinner or taller) or doing things to pictures that in my opinion are gimmicks and cheapen images- ie. softening the pictures too much to make skin look unnatural, making the picture look cartoon-like, adding distracting graphics and borders, etc. I photograph much more than portraits so if you're interested, you can find more of my pictures on my flickr
page...add me on there too if you have a page.
TFP / Free work:
I'm open to TFP shoots if I find that a model has a particular look or style that I'd like to add to my portfolio. If you have a shooting idea and location in mind (location is usually the hardest thing to find) that I might like, feel free to email me about it.
I'm pretty open minded and like to think outside the box. In case you're wondering I'm looking more for glamor style pictures that are more on the edgy and dark side, or just eye catching and original. For some reason I really want to take a western type of shoot lately so if you have access to a dude ranch with horses with perhaps the red barn, hay, sunset, etc. let me know!
Pretty much if I've written you, chances are I love your work and look. Really, I'm open to any ideas so don't be shy. If you're a makeup artist and want to get some models together, I love group shoots since I can get several looks with one shoot so maybe we can work something out.
Disclaimer on TFP work
I'm sure you can appreciate that my time and skills are valuable to me and photography equipment is very expensive so that's why I have to limit the amount of TFP shoots to photoshoot ideas that will benefit me as well as you. In other words, if you're looking for a set of standard Sears style portraits, engagement pics, etc that's not my idea of how TFP works. If you just want pictures, you need to hire me or another photographer (for a fee) and that way you can get great pictures and I can recover some of my costs.
Also, for TFP work where my name is on the pictures, I don't allow editing of my pictures no matter how good you [or you think lol] are with photoshop. This is not looked upon kindly by the majority of photographers and doing so is a great way to be black listed for any future TFP work. For better or for worst, I keep my pictures the way they are for a reason and I have the benefit of working with the original RAW file so the quality of the picture stays in tact. If your goal is to edit my pictures from the start then we can work something out on a non TFP basis. In addition, while I am generous with giving out pictures, I reserve the right to delete pictures I don't feel are up to par (repetitive, out of focus, etc.).
Unless we have already worked together before, please at least email and say hi before sending a friends request. I also only work with models who are over 18. The only exceptions are if I was at a photography gathering and a designer/makeup artist already had their own model AND the model's parent was there, but as a general rule, 18+ please.
