I've been doing hair for over 10 years, and have been a licensed hairstylist now for 3 years. I have been so privileged to receive the opportunities I have. From graduating Paul Mitchell, having the best in the industry for mentors, to working on set with other brilliant artists and being able to take my work around the world - there is nothing better! Ever since I was 5 years old, I told everyone I wanted to grow up and be a hairstylist, do movies, photo shoots and celebrities' hair. So far, I've checked all those off.
I am absolutely in love with what I do; the art of it, the relationships built along the way and the way I come alive when I do it. I am thankful to have something I am appreciated for and told I am extremely talented at, while making a living! There is nothing more magical than making a person feel even more beautiful; that the end result is a glowing, happy, satisfied person who is overjoyed at their appearance and your work. Who gets to do that everyday?!
I have also been inspired, after 9 years of overseas philanthropy work, to start my own development initiative called Remba [which in Swahili means to make beautiful or to beautify]. Remba is a mobile beauty academy, and business development initiative to enhance existing beauty industries and partner with women in developing nations. Remba extends sustainable and thriving careers to empower aspiring stylists through world-class education and quality resources and cultivate teachers, mentors, and business owners who in turn, empower others. The ultimate heart of Remba is to serve in the restoration and rehabilitation of lives through beauty. Media piece: http://vimeo.com/5995652
I sincerely love people and see them for who they are but also who they were born to be. My dream is that I can have the honor to be apart of affecting women around the world but individuals right here; men and women; whether the client, the aspiring stylist, actor, model and the hearts of artists within this brilliant industry.
Like you, I have to work for what I do; I consider it an art and valuable service. Everything I make go towards my own living as well as making Remba possible.
I am an on-site stylist that maintains my own clientele for services in color, cutting, texture, extensions, Brazilian Blowouts, weddings, fashion, editorial, runway, etc., in the LA, Orange County, and San Diego area and I do selected TF* work but primarily paid!
