San Francisco Bay Area photographer Jerry Cook has combined a love of photography with a deep and focused appreciation for the sensuous beauty of the eternal male spirit.

Certainly not the first, as so many photographers have left their footprints in the sand. The photographic challenge is to contribute something unique, and to avoid the temptation of redundancy, no matter how inspiring (and humbling) are the works of other talented photographers.

Knowledge of lighting, artistic composition, exposure, and other such technical and creative details are only a few elements of this artful pursuit. Selection of models is the most elusive dimension of all. Professional models from agencies have not been used for these photographs. Instead, the young man on the street, the acquaintance, the boy surrounded by friends in a club, or the waiter at the photographer's table have been invited to model for Jerry's photographic projects and portraits.

But then, a critical ingredient and common theme to Jerry's work is the spirited and adventuresome spark that combine to underscore the timeless sensuality of the noble youthful male. It isn't surprising that so many young men are flattered by the opportunity to participate in such photographic adventures, especially once they have seen Jerry's portfolio of fine works, and then realize this guy is real!

Jerry's photography has been on public exhibit at photographic galleries in Contra Costa and Solano Counties, and in San Francisco. His work has been given kind attention and words by the San Francisco Chronicle. A 2003 calendar published in Australia features exclusive model photography by Jerry. One of his photos was published in XY Magazine, and seven of his photographs were recently published in a photographic art book entitled "Male Nude Index".
