Hello My name is Victor Salinas. I was born in Victoria TX in.. well lets just say a long time ago. Lets see, If I had to describe my childhood in one word, I would say "Adventurous". I learned a lot of lessons and I learned them the hard way.
Around the age of 17 I picked up a Canon film camera because it caught my attention. I purchased a roll of film and went out shooting. I had no clue of what I was doing. But the anxiousness to develop the film, the thrill of seeing the outcome and the amazement that I captured these things in an image, is what took hold of me..
Time passed as did my life, my passion grew and I grew up. I moved to Houston TX to attend The Art Institute of Houston to major in photography. I learned a great deal about my profession. I learned my weaknesses, and how to overcome them. But I learned about myself most importantly.
About me as a person, I am a walking roller coaster. I am up then down, quiet then loud, excited, then sad.. But that's just who I am. I love taking risks, I love trying things differently, I hate being the same as anyone else. I hate using other peoples techniques. I hate when photographers tell other photographers they shot something wrong. I feel like there is no wrong way to shoot. You go and shoot how you want and of what you want. You have to be yourself and not let the words of others turn you into them. A true artist cares nothing of what others think of his art, he creates what he sees, how he wants. There is nothing wrong in that. His way is the correct way. As is mine...
