Hello there lovely people!

My name is Melanie, and I am a Freelance Photographer as well as an Alt-Model and Artist by the name Slim Anomaly (MM #2342679). I was born and raised in Michigan, now in Portland, OR, with over 20 years behind several cameras and a never ending arts education. I mostly use my digital camera these days, but I also love to use my vintage cameras with a range of film sizes, as well as experimenting with methods like a pinhole camera made out of a tin can or a lunch pail, and on occasion (but not with models) I even use my smart phone, because these are all just tools, and I like to explore and learn as many tools and tricks as I can to keep this artistic mind sharp.

Using unique angles and odd perspectives, I like to focus on the things that many find ugly, unseen or underappreciated, like street art and decay or scars and flaws, and photograph them in ways that make them quite beautiful. Whether I am out shooting architecture, nature or models, I tend to stick with the dark, twisted or strange side, but I also enjoy shooting things like pinup, boudoir and portraits. I believe that photography should make people think, and I love to put my viewers in that awkward place where they get to decide what's going on in the image.

Along with angles and perspectives, I like to experiment with alternative techniques in lighting and special effects, as well as mix in many other forms of art in order to come up with something truly original and unique. I don't look for models, I look for muses, and they are the ones that bring some creativity to the shoot and can either nail my vision or make it better.
