I presently own a Nikon D70 and I'm thinking of buying a used Tamron 28-105/2.8 lens......is it a thumbs up or down for this lens.....he's asking $500 for it

Well, I was about to write you and say it looks like a good deal, but........

I did more investigating.  I found the same lens (at least I think it is) on Amazon for $788.49

I found a rebate form (PDF) on the Tamron web site that says they are offering a $200 rebate until Dec 31:

So if I'm right, you end up getting the new lens for $588.49 w/free shipping.
