It is the imperfections on all of us that make us beautiful. How many photographers would have airbrushed out the mole on Cindy Crawford's face if she had posted an un-retouched photo of herself on the thread as an 16 year old unknown? Many photographers who are still learning Photoshop ( and i count myself in that number even though I have used PS for 19 years ) re-touch photos beyond all understanding. The model is virtually unrecognizable. You might as well sand blasted her and laid on the Semi gloss exterior paint with an 8 inch paint brush. I just don't get it. Still if the MUA or Photographer or the clients likes that it is good and that is all that matters. My opinions don't matter at all, its just not my style. Mar 06 08 06:01 pm Link MegaHertz Studios wrote: Totally agree! Mar 06 08 06:05 pm Link Ultimately the use of Photoshop at its extreme is more painting than photography. And since I can't paint it is not my style. I prefer subtle improvements that give the impression of reality. Many of the posts here cross over into digital painting or illustration. They are a hybrid of illustration and photography or taken to their logical extension a totally new and equally valid and beautiful work of art. I do not waste any time debating whether they are photography or painting or illustration. If they are beautiful or very well done, that is all that matters. Mar 06 08 06:12 pm Link Homer wrote: Awesome job!! Mar 06 08 06:15 pm Link I can't resist. If you are serious about re-touching, google the 15 year debate about the restoration of the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo funded by the Japanese NHK Corporation. Many art lovers were shocked to see how the world class restorers "fixed" the ceiling. Many felt that they had ruined a masterpiece and turned into a bland cartoon.
