Rawshooter Essentials, probally the best freeware one out there from the guys that did CaptureOne. I still prefer C1 Pro but alas its not free.

Second vote for RSE...

The upgrade is like $70 I think if you want the full tool box

The deveopment team here defected from Capture One...

They have a freebie version. It's not as gopod as C1, but similar & pretty good nonetheless...

(edit)  seems like great minds think alike, eh ???

Here might be another option:

http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/main.html

IIRC, the Adobe DNG converter will change a raw file from any camera into an Adobe RAW (generic raw file), that can be used in ACR, It also IIRC, can convert DNG's to an output format (jpg, tiff, etc) I haven't used it in a while & really don't remember all the spec's...

Seriously.. go check out Irfanview.. It's nifty. Has a contact sheet creator, tgp creator, quick batch convert for everything but RAW.. Trust me, I wouldn't steer you wrong! It's absolutely free too.

[Edit] Ooooh.. I take that back! The latest version also has a RAW converter!

The last time I saw that program, it did not auto-rotate images.  Is that fixed or am I mis-remembering?

It doesn't auto rotate, you have to do a batch.. but it rotates them pretty quickly.
