I just saw a spot on the news about vaginal plastic surgery!  Women are taking photos from men's magazines, going to a Gynecologist Plastic Surgeon and having their vaginas reconstructed to look like the vaginas of these models in the magazines.  There is even a procedure to restore the hymen so a woman can be a 'virgin' again!  One of the surgeons said 2 out of 3 women request this procedure.  Now, isn't this a bit much in the plastic surgery arena?

Actually, I saw a special on I think it was Discovery channel and it proved quite the opposite of your view

A Middle-eastern woman (I forget the exact ethnicity) was gang raped when she was a little girl.

She was betroved to get married, and if her future husband found out that she was not a virgin, she would be beaten and exiled.

She was on the show with her identity concealed, but she had her hymen reconstructed so he would not be able to tell

So in that case, it makes perfect sense..but for vanity reasons....ummm...unless there is something terribly wrong with it, then i think it is silly

I too have heard of this.  Some women actually go to make their genitals look more "attractive" etc.  I dont really know how safe that surgery is, if anyone is planning on doing something like that then they BETTER know who they are dealing with because if not someone could scar you for LIFE.

They had a very brief (about 2 seconds, literally) blurb that there were cases that it was done for religious and ethnic purposes, but the jist of this report was for reasons of making the vagina more attractive and to restore virginity.

I am not even surprised anymore now that I think of it because they have plastic surgery for almost anything on the human body these days.

The gynecologist that came up with the procedure developed it from an actual medical procedure to correct a problem a patient was having due to giving birth 4 times.  After a few weeks the woman came back for her check up and said her sex life was ike she was 18 again, from there he developed this procedure.  He has trained a total of 65 physicians that perform 20 procedures a month to the tune of 100 milion dollars a year!

I just wonder how many women are being mamed from these procedures.

Well, I don't, I mean honestly, there are far more important things, like intelligence, the mind, spending time together talking and sharing dreams and goals.

As do I, nicely done!

I think if the girl was raped, than that may be okay.  No one has the right to take something as significant as virginity away like that.  Although a girl may still think of herself as a virgin, she won't physically be one, and that could make all the difference in the world to her.

In regards to vanity, people do crazy things because of it.  This just proves that.

I understand and can accept the ethnic and religious reasons... but for those who do it as a 'gift' for their spouse.... Why on earth would someone drop 50K on a procedure that could have bad results (infections and other complications of surgery) only to go ahead and 'break' the damn thing over again?

True, true, I would support that situation, but for vanity....ugh, far more important things in this life.

Exactly!  I would have a fit if my wife did this as a gift, the risks that have to be involved in this type of thing, it's crazy!  Sorry, it's just not worth it in my opinion.

Are these related to an epistiotomy? Like the doctor takes an extra stitch?

After a woman has more than a few children it is natural for the elasticity to decrease.  Surgery can improve the sexual gratifiction for both partners.  It really is a personal issue.

"Do men really care? Do photographers care who have shot shot explicit nudes (read as porn)??"

I can only speak for myself....um.....

Nope.

Between that and Photoshop you're one step away from becoming living anime.....

Nope, they're talking about plastic surgery, far more in depth then an extra stitch or two.

Hmm..I don't know...
As a victim of rape at 14, I still wouldn't concider it..although it would be nice to have my current boyfriend "devirginatize" me...but all in all, losing your virginity is a shitty expirience, I don't see why anyone would want to do it again?

Any woman why feels they need that really needs to learn to love herself..

Vanity makes people do some crazy things.

But I guess if ya got the money, and it makes ya happy...it's no different that the whole penis enlargement thing. Some men just want a bigger weenie so they're not intimidated at the gym, and some women don't wanna their va-jayjays look like they have a couple slices of ham hanging between their legs.
