Ha...I just love people, especially ones like that. I love them so much, I want to kick them all in the junk.

Great response, though. High five!

Tell them that your rate is $10 for putting on the makeup and $390 for knowing exactly how to put the makeup on...  smile

I dont know Rachel- what exactly were you upset at- her thinking you might work for a portion of your day rate?

I mean- lets say I have a day rate of $600.  Would I be willing to do a 3 look half day shoot for $300- sure.

Would I be willing to do a 1 look shoot for $100- who knows, maybe?

I dont know if the question is so outrageous, tho?

I am amused, not upset. Am I going to change my date rate when I have zero interest in working in the ever so popular porn industry... no. The point being that if she wants to hire me, which she contacted me, she can pay me my day rate and that is that. Also, for the record $400 is a lot of artists 1/2 day rate. My point is that there is a difference in something being overpriced and you not being able to afford it. So would I be willing to do her make-up for $150, absolutely not. If she want to pay $150 bucks to get her make-up done, then she can hire a budget artist.

Ohhh, gotcha.  I have a feeling that alot of people on this site may not be able to guess your rates or what you are and are not willing to do makeup for.

Why not post that info to lessen the "amusing" emails?  I do agree that her comeback right away with the "Ur overpriced" card was silly tho.

Yep.  $400 is most artists 1/2 day rate.  $150?  Um, no.  I don't think so.  Your work is better than that.  This is too funny.

By chance is the model called Lexi? If so I know her sister and if they're anything alike you should charge her your full day rate PLUS a $500 surcharge for putting up with her. The makup artist I worked with on that shoot quit doing makeup after that. Just threw down the brushes and said no way.

This is hilarious.

Or you can tell her...well, the lipgloss I use is for high fashion and does not take much wear and tear, and re-applying after each scene would cost too much.  lol

She thinks that 1 look / 1 hour for $150 is ok, but $400 a day is overpriced? It's not your pricing that is wrong it's her scheduling.

I'm not in your shoes, but I might have offered her a 1/2 day rate at $250 and see if she bites, but you also noted that you are not interested in working in that side of the industry.

Good response though (charity).

This is just so effing hilarious!!!  This reminds me of a time that someone asked me to do a low budget fashion show.  I knew that it's low budget and that they wouldnt be able to pay much (and there were like 30 girls and only 2 MUA's) so I said "ok $25 per girl is fine"...they told me that it was too high and that I should do it for $10 per girl cos that's what the other MUA was charging.  I left w/o saying a word and that was the end of that LOL

I guess you get what you pay for LOL
