I'd call it a portrait. His head might be kind of small when the image is used 2x3 or smaller on a newsletter or annual report.

it is called Gargoyle's Heart

my heart harmed me
lured me from paradise
to fortunes darkening glance

the lines of fortune
on my palm
he traced so lovingly
not long ago
the lines of living
of laughter
of love
betrayed

Forgive me Lord
I needed more
I wanted more
I wanted him


the lines of fortune disappear
into
wrinkles and spotted flesh
hands clenching
arms barren
bereft

Fairytales rarely have happy endings

memory

yielding to darkness
a cry
shattering in its
simplicity
duplicity
a fortune betrayed
ripped from heaven for one kiss
his kiss
Judas kiss

Help me Lord
Take this pain
Take this fortune
Take this life


heart/hands/mouth
ceasing
calcifying
turned to stone
stone cannot love
stone cannot be loved

the lines of my fortune
pale- grown gray
pigeons nest
where once gentle hands
smoothed golden locks

rain not tears
falls down unmoving cheeks

fallen angel
frozen maiden
smiling into the summer rain
eyes unblinking
heart at rest
wings outstretched
forever
on the verge
of flight

granite does not love
