How to achieve this black skin in photoshop?
Hi Guys, Just wanted to know how to achieve this black skin in photoshop https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/ … 0540_n.jpg If in case you guys done it bfore, is it possible if you can give me a sample of the retouch you've done and the steps. Thanks and regards, Stan Nov 12 12 01:42 am Link I think you are very agresive with the focus and curves in photoshop. Try to be subtly and if yoy focus also unfocus in something areas. You can see a sample in my MM profile Nov 12 12 01:59 am Link If you go into the channels section in photoshop and use levels to modify the darks and lights on say the blue channel it should get you close. Nov 12 12 02:00 am Link There are various but I'm pretty sure in that photograph the skin actually has black paint on it. I could be wrong though. The texture just looks like it a bit. Separating the blue channel and darkening it is another alternative. Either way, this is easy to achieve. Nov 12 12 09:54 am Link Paul Snyder wrote: definitely. this. looks like black acrylics. Nov 12 12 10:54 am Link I'd be interested to learn a technique for this as well... Every year around halloween, the stores are flooded with "costume make up kits", many have a black face paint included, but what if you don't have that or an actual cosmetic to use? I've tried painting black over skin and using various blending modes, but nothing looks good enough for me to save a psd, let alone post a jpeg... Aside from the blue channel adjustments (which I plan on trying, btw) does anyone have any other suggestions? Nov 14 12 03:06 pm Link MM contributor Natalia has a quick tutorial here http://vimeo.com/13331197 Nov 14 12 09:01 pm Link I've done a similar effect to this. The method I chose is to apply a light oil to the models skin. Shoot well lit, convert to grayscale in PS and manipulate the red, orange, yellow balance to the desired level. The amount of oil applied determines how much of the shape of the skin can be maintained after the levels are adjusted. Naturally you have to be careful with specular highlights because they can easily become dramatic. And as a reference, I have tried the skin painting method as well and it was a huge pain and not worth the time or effort. It doesn't work when you have a shallow depth of field in the image. Nov 24 12 12:26 pm Link xbe photographer wrote: I'm not sure who you're asking. Here's a link for my psd.
