I'm bored. Comment here and I'll tell you what you need to remove out of your portfolio, what is your best and worst image, and any advice I think can help you get more work. Go.

(Warning: I will be completely honest with you, but this is just my opinion, take it as you choose.)

Thank you for the compliment. smile

I think you would excel most in commercial/lifestyle work, as well as child photography.

This is simply adorable https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140512/17/53716363cc94f_m.jpg

The surfer images are great, though the clouds look comped in? They almost take away from the model, and pull focus.

This is my other favorite https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/121114/01/50a365e248a05_m.jpg Great composition, toning, and setting.

Though I don't know where this would fit in the professional world, it's my favorite "Artistic" shot https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131010/22/52578e4958595_m.jpg

I suggest doing some skin retouching tutorials. Your lighting and toning is nice in all of your images. Now just work on skin retouching, and creating dimension in facial features.

Nothing else really impressed me, nothing was too horrible. Try to find better models, you actually have quite a bit of potential. smile Good Luck!

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140119/12/52dc38caeea50_m.jpg This is really beautiful, possibly your best shot.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140419/23/53536b04663ad_m.jpg Super beautiful toning. Awkward pose, but still great because of your toning.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131112/23/52832cbf7c8be_m.jpg Great toning, cool backdrop. Like this one a lot.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130619/11/51c1f9a40f9cc_m.jpg Adorable! Love the toning.

Your toning.. is just awesome. lol

You should also try some retouching tutorials and get a little better, most of your models look very dimensionally flat. Maybe try putting together some "stories" instead of singular shots. smile

I suggest removing the 1st shot on the last row it's dragging down your portfolio. Also the subway shot makes no sense in your book.. all of these staged portraits and then a random candid. Keep it out until you have more and can make another album for shots like that.

You have a lot of potential. Be careful with your retouching sometimes you tend to lose a lot of texture. Texture is important.

This is your best shot imho. https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130819/15/52129747161dd_m.jpg Beautiful. Great retouching. This is what all your images should look like when finished.

You excel at beauty work. Your themed shots are really cool as well.

I would remove 1, 6, 13, 14, and possibly 16. 1 why is this a double? I'm confused. Her boobs are ridiculously large and you know thats probably the only reason people are looking at it. 6 I can't figure it out, it just doesn't work for some reason. 13 horrible.. worst one in there, at first I thought maybe you kept it around for racial variety but you have that headshot at the top. Get rid of this.. asap. 14 Eh.. same as 6. 16 All the texture is gone, lots of bluring, cool shot, but the retouching is ruining it.. maybe retouch it again from scratch.

Your work is really beautiful. You obviously excel at boudoir. You could even do beauty, and portraiture if you desired. Even *tasteful* nudes. (I'm accentuating the tasteful here) Though I suppose you could shoot porn and do that well also. lol

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140430/09/5361293eaa250_m.jpg This is my favorite. It's so pretty. The retouching is well done. The hair, makeup, and lighting is all lovely. I would possibly crop above the armpit line.. too much negative space I think. The focus is her face and maybe the necklace.. no need for all that top body if there is no cleavage.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130606/21/51b15f33c9893_m.jpg Amazing. What a gorgeous model. You really brought out her beauty. I could fall in love with her just from that image. Perfection.

Now for the not so good..

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131025/17/526b0bf96d81c_m.jpg Get rid of this. It's blurry. I know you tried to save it, but just no, it's not worth it. The model is not the greatest, and the toning is a little too warm. If you're trying to bring out her hair color, mask that toning just to that area. Now she's too red skinned.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140322/11/532dd7dbe1315_m.jpg The image is crisp, but if I didn't know better I wouldn't think so. Where did all her skin texture go? This is so amateur looking, worst shot you have. Are you sure you shot this? You are better then this. Next time I would have her lay on the bed so you don't get any of the outside of it. You should've seen all bed and her, none of that black space on the sides.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140210/11/52f9265ebeacb_m.jpg It's the hair. It's killing this shot. Not your fault. The lighting however.. you needed a reflector or a bounce board on the right side. This isn't a horrible shot, but it's not helping either.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131228/10/52bf13a5e00cb_m.jpg Bad pose. Got to go. Great retouching here though. Nice and crisp, lots of texture.

Barbie girl shots.. beautiful lighting. Her face has texture her chest does not. Consistency.. especially in the same shot is important.

Half of your models are great, half are horrible. You could make a lot of money in boudoir though, you make women desirable in photos. Keep it up! smile

Thanks for such a detailed and supportive critique!

Re the surf shots: the clouds weren't comped in -- I had used a polarizing filter to bring them out more in the shoot and brought them out further in processing...but perhaps too far. wink

Obviously you're a dancer. That's cool. Did you try to retouch half of these? Please get a makeup artist. sad You have a beautiful face. This cat eye thing in almost every shot has to go. The most beautiful shot of you, you have no makeup on! Also what is going on with this lip color? Your bottom lip is colored, and your top isn't at all or is ombre'd.. this doesn't look good. =/

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140528/23/5386d222a84c4_m.jpg Adorable. If only it weren't for that lip color thing -.-

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140324/13/533096f8d5f1b_m.jpg Probably your coolest shot.. would be a better avatar then the one you have now.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140104/17/52c8b5a5622fa_m.jpg Though I don't love this shot.. it's way too blown out (bright and white) You look beautiful. Your hair off your face is gorgeous. You also dont have much makeup on here I love it.

There's a reason why those three have the most amount of comments.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140606/15/539243d675721_m.jpg This needs to go. It's tacky, the makeup is horrible (the top of the eyeshadow is nice the purple dragged across the face on the bottom is ruining it as well as the lip thing of course). This looks like glamour shots gone wrong.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140226/14/530e7005b88ea_m.jpg The lighting, toning, retouching is all crap. Get rid of this asap. It's the worst shot.

I can't tell how short you are, but I'm assuming you're very short. I would try to stick to commercial modeling. The girl next door on the college advertisements for example. You could do beauty ad's too possibly you have a cool face shape.

I don't think I can post most of your images lol. I think your boudoir is your best stuff. You suffer from not having great photographers. I also do not like your bright red hair, the darker red suits you more. I can tell these are wigs in most shots.. What does your natural hair look like? Is it relaxed? It looks like you have long dark relaxed hair in the shot on your profile. This is so beautiful. I think you look 10 times better like that. Maybe even try a Level 1 black. So black it's blue/purple tint shines in the sun. You have a beautiful face and a lovely smile.

The one in the little bathtub is my favorite. It's so genuine and adorable.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131025/02/526a3d6724ed4_m.jpg This is my second favorite. This is probably the best photographer you've shot with. The lighting and the post are spot on. Your body looks the best here, you should try to stay in this shape.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130907/22/522c0f34ef761_m.jpg This is also nice. Another good photographer.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131015/22/525e2aa06445a_m.jpg Well I was going to say I like this shot, but when I saw it normal size I changed my mind. This is the photographers fault. Horrible post work. You look lovely, great expression. Reshoot something like this because you need a good headshot like this. (and no bright red hair!)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140307/17/531a6e3d3b98b_m.jpg Take this out. It's not a bad shot of you.. but it makes no sense in your portfolio. Quality over Quantity.

The last row in the nudes remove the 2nd image and possibly the 4th. The 2nd is really unflattering. The 4th is not nude, it's implied.. maybe move it to the boudoir section.

So If you want to make real money.. You could probably do some commercial modeling. You have a nice face and a great smile, and you're in decent shape (as long as you stay like the bike one) You could get jobs doing commercials here and there, and some print work for banks or of the like. But you seem to be doing well with what you're doing now. Do what you love. smile

I could explain about my hair but every time I explain no one gets it lol Just know they aren't wigs

My natural hair is too short, damaged, and some funky grey/blonde/black mixed color (don't ask me why). The photo on my profile isn't my hair. Although I did purchase it like I did the red.

Thank you for your critique smile

I just recently updated my makeshift portfolio that is waiting for some new images from recent shoots to come in, and would love to see if my changes made a difference. I'm just starting out, so I don't have many good images yet (most pics taken by amateur photographers for portrait advertisements), but I'd love to hear your opinion!

I can't post them but the last three on the bottom are sooooo stunning. Wow. You should definitely do lingerie more.  The one in white is my favoriteeee.

this is also awesome.

You have great expressions, you're a natural you just need more. More work, more images. Most of the photographers you have shot with are great.. just keep pushing for better and better talent. Are you with an agency? Get more shots and maybe think about approaching one soon. (depending on your height)

I kind of suggest getting rid of this. Idk.. it's not flattering. It's a cool shot.. for the photographer, not really for you though. You have better stuff cycle out this when you have something new.

Keep going! You're doing great. smile

Hmm. Ok.. Your lighting is phenomenal. The beach lighting is sooo beautiful. You're also suffering from crappy models. You're in Chicago you have no excuse! Contact Ford, and some of the other agencies there and see about testing their girls.

PLEASE for gods sake get a wardrobe stylist. The clothing is killing a lot of your shots. Some of the dresses in the beach stuff are sooo tacky.

Hair stylists as well, you could really benefit from hair stylists. The makeup is not bad in most of them.. but you could up the game there as well.

YOU are good, it's the talent in your teams that are lacking. Maybe not talent, just experience.

You are a great beauty photographer, you may want to focus on that more. Your retouching is lovely. on the first 3 beauty shots (the second one doesn't have much skin texture but its not awful)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140514/13/5373d884a50cc_m.jpg This is my favorite. You need more models like this. She's stunning. The post work is fantastic.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130517/06/519633343cbf5_m.jpg
This should go.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130324/18/514faa2a6da6f_m.jpg
This makeup is horrible, either retouch the makeup better or get rid of it.

Also your portfolio is suffering from identity crisis. It's sooo all over the place. You need a beauty album, and a fashion album.. and with your beach stuff possibly a commercial album. Sort them correctly, then add to them as you can. smile

Good luck!

Either you have multiple personality photographer disorder, or more then one person is shooting the shots in this portfolio. There are so many amazing shots. Another problem here is quantity over quality.. you have got to narrow this down, or make albums. It's extremely overwhelming the amount of shots you have on there. This is what a website is for. On your website you can overload it with images because it's usually scrollable and you see a couple at a time.. model mayhem should showcase your best 16 images.. (or 16 per type of photography separated into albums).

Your main image, the avatar? Is probably the worst shot you have.. change it! I was afraid I was going to be giving a lot of bad feedback to you, then I saw your portfolio and was like aww he's actually pretty good! If I wasn''t directly talking to you like this I would've never ever clicked on your portfolio.

Your teams are pretty awesome.. great hair in some of these, great makeup. Your concepts are cool. Some are a little tacky, but you do them well. lol You have some pretty good models throughout there.

Your portfolio is extremely confusing me lol It really seems like 3 different photographers shot this stuff.

The 2 middle shots on the top row.. the retouching is blah. The skin is all melted and blurry.. Texture is important. Maybe re-edit these? The makeup on the second one is not amazing.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140426/13/535c120ade953_m.jpg https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140426/13/535c126a6771f_m.jpg https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140111/16/52d1de06c1180_m.jpg (wow, this whole set)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140309/08/531c8e9521fe8_m.jpg Blown out. Not in a good way. Cut it.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140426/13/535c12dc2635c_m.jpg Yeah I kind of hate this. I would cut it. I think it's the hair. What is she 4 years old? The hair killed it.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140426/13/535c113b8f77d_m.jpg Stunning model. Cool toning. But I hate this. I'm not sure why. Possibly the tacky skirt, and being topless? This would've been better with a pair of boyshorts or lace underwear or something.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140426/12/535c0dd9dd46e_m.jpg Out of the set of these, I'm shocked this is the one that has the least love. This is the one I liked the most. The one I hated has a ridiculous amount of love. Just move all of these concept things to their own album or something.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131214/19/52ad2716045da_m.jpg Just no. Has to go. I think it's the hair.. and the pose.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120621/06/4fe31da457a8f_m.jpg I don't understand why this has so many comments. This is horrible, in my opinion. The lighting is beautiful, the model is stunning. Her hair looks so bad. The skin on the face is so blurred. Maybe retouch it again?

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140308/09/531b5691df1da_m.jpg Either get rid of this set or I don't know use a different background? It's a cool concept but.. it's like there's too much going on or the colors are contrasting with the back drop? I can't pinpoint it.. but somethings not working. This is the set I thought looked a little tacky. (Though it is cool.. just something needs to be tweaked for it to work)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131202/11/529ce2c530d9e_m.jpg Just cut it.

Okay.. hopefully this is enough to give you a little idea of whats working and what's not.. I can't do anymore.. there's so many lol

Your are good though, great lighting. Work on your skin retouching, and branding.

Oh boy. Again.. way too much. Quality over quantity!!!! I can't stress this enough.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131004/23/524fb8728eedf_m.jpg This is amazing. LOVE it so much. I wouldn't change a thing, great model, great makeup, the hair is good, the post work is fantastic, great lighting, etc, etc, etc. Shoot more stuff like this. This and your avatar are your best shots.

Since you had so much I just scrolled and clicked on the eyesores. These are the images I think you should get rid of.. either the model is horrible, the post is horrible, it's tacky.. or some other random reason. (I also kind of think you should ditch the entire vintage - pinup album hmm )

Me next?

Well.. where to begin. How to put this? I don't want to tell someone not to do something they love. According to your profile.. you aren't doing this or going to do this for a living. (Which means you don't really need a critique, but you asked so I'll give it to you) You have a lot of work to do. You need to research more, look through magazines, or portfolios of great photographers.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/121226/15/50db88f78d630_m.jpg This is beautiful, it's really great. It's the only thing I liked though. =/

Just keep shooting and working towards better images. So you can cycle out shots and replace them. If you want to make money.. maternity and probably boudoir would be your thing. In case you ever want to do that.

Uhh ok let's see. You need to work on your lighting. I'm a little surprised you're a graphic designer.. I'm just going to assume you never did much photo retouching. You should study up on that.

Your male portraits are really great. That's what you do best in my opinion.

I didn't love anything that much, or really hate anything that much. I've already forgotten everything in your portfolio (except your male portraits).

I would get rid of the chantal album all together.

Models, Lighting, Post-work. That's your goal. Work on those.. do some more male portraits too.

Let's do this!

I was excited to get to your portfolio! It started out so good.. but then it got worse and worse and worse. I'm not sure what you look like.. in some shots you look 12, some you look 22, some you look like a plus model, some you look normal. What do you look like?!?! As a model you shouldn't have any pictures a year old, or more. Unless you absolutely look the same. Which you don't.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131103/09/52768e94dc0c1_m.jpg This is sooo beautiful. Did you pay to get these done? Best decision of your career, and good choice on photographer. So so so pretty. I almost wish I had been on the team! I love it.

The two sky pictures are really nice too.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/131129/19/52995f20e16ca_m.jpg Get rid of this. wtf.

The top two rows are great (minus the one I showed you) Get rid of everything else.

I have a couple more suggestions if you're serious about really making money. If you're interested message me and I will tell you.. but you need a thick skin to hear them cause they're going to be harsh.. but it will help. I want to see a recent digital though.. within the last week.. no angles, no filters.

Yay a Makeup Artist, finally! smile

Okay let's see. Your natural work is beautifullll. You need more beauty shots of that. Clean beauty = $$$.

Everything on the bottom 2 rows you should get rid of. These are all cool for your personal portfolio, but not your professional one. The second anyone sees feathers they usually run the other way.

Your profile image is amazing and beautiful.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/110711/15/4e1b740d1ef0d_m.jpg I also love love love this.

I would need to see more before I could tell you what to work on makeup wise.. but you look like you're really great.. you just need more good photographers and models. & stay away from the feathers and rhinestones. <3

(I'm moving to LA in July we should hang out. wink)
