I have noticed that some models have had the same pictures  in their portfolio for years even though they check their sites almost daily....does it means that they have not shoot in years.. or is there a reason for not up grading? From my perfective it gives the feeling that they don't really care, unless they feel some their last images are not worth showing...I just wonder....

I have a couple of images in my port from 2010, and also a few from 2011.

I have 4 shoots next week. Two of them will likely be full days.

It only makes sense to replace images in your port with better photos, better pics mean higher caliber of photography, which often mean you have to test/trade-up to get those, and for a lot of model, modeling is their only job and they can't afford to test/trade as much as it should be ideally, pictures from their paying shoots are not that exciting, so they keep those they have with lots of comments and lists in their port...as least until they find something better, or until trade photographers send them the photos

Depends on the model.

That described me but I had good reason, I wasn't shooting. I planned to and have since turning 18/getting a car but for years I wasn't.

Edit- however those details were in my port

Model, photographer, or whatever it doesn't matter.  As a creative our portfolio serves on purpose - to get us work.  If they are getting all the work they can handle why change it?

Potentially, they're super busy shooting paid work.  I work with a lot of hobbiest, and about 99% of the time, paid work is not work I have reason to put in my portfolio.

I only post trade work, and sometimes I go pretty lengthy stretches without doing trade.

Additionally, for the past year, I've been working exclusively with painters.

When I'm more actively shooting, I make time for trade (to update) at least every two months.

You have time to worry about that? There are thousands of models on here that are very active. I have done lots of paid work, but they are not Port stuff. I have images here that are years old. It still works and I like it. I do not put everything I do on here cause it is a Portfolio, not Facebook. There are Top models on here who have not updated for years. Why? They are busy being Top Models. smile

I think people spend too much time analyzing the activies of other members on this site.

I kind of compare it to the pet dog who sits st home waiting for the owner to get back and they get super excited at every noise thinking the owner is back lol

Its similar to the worst micro management at a shitty office.

If what's there is working, some comments, some lists, some jobs coming paid or not, does model look different now; might be a case to go to a higher level (read cost) membership for more "space" for new stuff.
Probably lots of reasons and even more opinions as to why. Thanks for sharing yours.

When I book models or trade with photographers I dont look at when the photos were uploaded, I just simply decide if I like them and want images like those for myself.

The only time this becomes a problem is if the models look has changed significantly (and they haven't added new work that reflects that) or when the photographer has gone a completely different direction, and again hasn't added new work to reflect that.

A good photo that shows a persons abilities is a good photo, doesnt matter how old it is.

Same goes for dealing with my own portfolio. The majority of my fetish work is fairly old, as I haven't shot anything in a while. If its a genre Im still willing to shoot, why would I take the work out of my portfolio? Its still good work and its still relevant.

I cut all my damn hair off but Ive kept images with my long hair. The change in my hair length doesnt magically negate everything else in the image that shows my body and posing abilities. I can still model just the same, so if they're good images that show me well why would I get rid of them?

When modeling is your job, you will never see 75% of the images you modeled in.  And I don't just mean from paid portfolio work with model mayhem photographers: unless an ad is a national campaign that is everywhere you will probably never see it.  Maybe if you did an editorial you can go buy the magazine and it will actually be in the issue they said it would be in (if they told you what issue it would be at all).  They don't send you copies or anything.  Sometimes you luck out and they use catalog images for web content and you can screengrab it, but otherwise: you were paid, your pay is your pay, and that's it.  You show up, do your job (sometimes not even knowing what the job is until you're on set), go home and never think about it again.  You will also end up shooting tons of things that look exactly like what you already have in your book.  If your book is working for you; you're booking jobs from it, then you don't change it.

I have very few shots that don't show explicit nudity. As you know, mature images cannot be an avatar. I haven't done much shooting lately due to health issues. I tend to search photographers by the last time they logged in not if they have the same avatar or not...

We are not allowed new images unless we upgrade our account. So 15 images is all most of us are allowed. Even VIP legacy member soon gets full. One is also loathe to remove 86 old images just to add one new or pay every year.
But apparently one is able to have multiple free accounts so earlier this year I opened this one so have fifteen new ones smile

So of course it doesn't mean we haven't shot in years it means,we aren't paying to add the new pics. But now I've found a way round it....

For me it's that 15 image limit as I also have a few hidden which I bring out from time to time to enter in contests. I'm another who has certain favorites which I choose to feature regardless of when they were done, and still actively model but don't have any place to add more pictures. What I have seems to be working well for me as I get tons of views and comments, and plenty of offers of work.

Replies with ideas I hadn't thought of but, I was considering the latest upload as being years away, (like 5+). Since I've been modeling 2.5 years and I am over 45 I think current is months to a year+. This is likely due to aging and relevance. Oh sure, from age 27 to 42 I looked the same basically but, since starting to model really, at age 45, changes happen rapidly!

I always think it is interesting that this kind of post generates a "why don't you worry about your own portfolio" response.  Those people should worry about their own forum posts.

I can think of several models that fit this pattern and I have always found it a curiosity.  One used her real name and I googled it.  I found her mug shot for the county jail, looking much worse than her portfolio pictures.  I think a lot of these models have hard lives and get into drugs and kind of live a fantasy of modeling which keeps them coming back, but they can't get shoots together.

There must be some who come back because they get an email that they have a tag but are disappointed to find that it is just a "Let's Shoot" from some loser 5 states away.  Some just like to look at pictures I guess.  Some are just browsing the profiles of the various porn offers that models supposedly get here.

Maybe they don't have new images.  However, I have shot with models who's latest pictures were old as dirt and they still didn't update with my new ones and I know they weren't doing other shoots.

for me, there's not enough activity going on in my city in order to continuously produce a good portfolio. there's just not enough legit talent to choose from. i also have photographers who take months (and actually one who takes literally a year) to get photos back to me, and by the time that happens my hair changes or some other body modification.
so, i can't really update that often. *shrugs*

So true

I usually take candids and video of every shoot I do so I can show a client exactly what they're looking for.  I work a lot and keep photos I love up here.  If my look changes, I take them down.

I have video from just three days ago, but I have a photo of me on my avatar that was taken a while back.  Why?  I look the same and I like it.

Having some older photos in a model's port is no big deal.
Maybe they are iconic to her look/modeling style or ones she still wants to represent herself with for a style she likes and maybe haven't shot recently or shot recently but not to her standards.

I like seeing a mixture of old and new, it gives me a view to her progression and growth as a model and often they are amazing photos.
However as a booking photographer I do like to see a most recent posting(s) in case [as in nude work] there are no surprises that'll alter a pre-conceived composition but a good library and body of work showcasing the full range is awesome to see.
