Your portfolio includes everything and the kitchen sink. What do you think is your best work? What are you currently looking to shoot? I usually am put off by someone who has a portfolio that has everything from bridal to erotic nudes; separate portfolios would be better. It makes me wonder if I receive a friend request or a "want to shoot?" message from someone what they would be interested in shooting.

You're a pretty good stock photographer; your avatar threw me off, and there are some non-stock photos in your profile that throw me off as well. I think if you use MM mostly to find models for stock photography, keep your portfolio short and sweet and to the point. 8-12 strong images are all you need.

Thanks for the input.  Actually, I tend to underexpose the RAW by 1/2 stop or so then bump up exposure in post.  But you're right, I'm going to err on the overexposure side in post because I actually do not like darker images with high contrast, especially those in b&w.  Mostly, though, I try to have histograms in the middle.  So maybe a preferential difference?

But, all in all, I much prefer your figure work. You seem to be much more natural and I'm biased so don't take it as me saying you suck in clothes tongue You are still someone I would love to shoot or draw!

You and your travelling partner, (if with you,) are both welcomed and have a place here. wink!

Quite likely. Also I bet your work translates different in print. smile

I tend to think at least some of my work "pops" from the page.  Thanks again.

Set concrete goals for yourself.

"Better" is too vague.

Looking at your "I wish I took it" list, I can sort of see patterns of what you like. Dissect each shot; what makes it so good? What makes a similar shot inferior?

Just keep shooting and reflecting on what you're doing right and what you need to work on. Find people whose work you admire to offer you advice, critiques, input, classes, whatever they can.

A lot of the poses you have chosen from models are very awkward and unflattering, maybe ask for a critique from a photographer you respect or find a way to train your eye to what works/doesn't in terms of posing. My biggest nitpick smile

If you want to do this as a profession, realize that not doing nudes will limit what work is available to you. I'm not saying that you have to do nudes to be successful, I know some that do quite well freelancing and do not do nudes, but it will be a bit more of an uphill battle. Also, you should take that one nude picture out of your portfolio.

I diversify the work I do between fine art modeling (non-photographic nude and clothed), photographic (mostly nude with the occasional editorial), and do manual labor during slow seasons if I didn't make enough the rest of the year (substitute this with any other temp job you could work for a few weeks).

It's good that you can do your own hair and makeup, that is definitely a factor that would make someone book you over someone without hair/makeup skills and has a similar look since that eliminates the need for 2 extra people to hire. What are other things that you have and can provide that others can't? Be creative in how to market yourself, make connections with the right people and build from there, really figure out what it is you want out of modeling and go for it.

I do believe I have seen your work before in a past critique thread I did!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33240304 18+
This is a very refreshing mother and child shot; there is a great sense of space in the image, the giant bed lends to the feeling, and it's almost like the two of them are in some sort of womb together. It's a creative spin on the concept instead of doing a closely-cropped high key image of a mom smiling at a baby.

Honestly I'm quite impressed with how you light some of your shots and it gives me a few ideas of how to be more creative in lighting the figure!

You have a great figure! I feel like what is lacking is your range of facial expressions. I feel like in most of the images you have in your portfolio now, you are tilting your chin way down and looking up at the camera, showing a lot of the whites of your eyes on the bottom. I'd love to see a plain-face, straight to the camera shot, a simple profile, and a natural smile. I feel like having those three expressions in your portfolio, even if they are simple shots you take yourself, would give a better sense of what you look like to anyone looking to hire you.

I would love to see you do more work along these lines. Simple, clean make up and styling. Nothing too harsh or dramatic (unless it is from a publication of course). Simpler is better!

I'd like to see a clean and simple headshot/portrait and figure shot. I can't really tell what you look like very accurately from what you have up now.

Work on how you compose your images. I feel like you tend to crop in too tightly, and in two images there is a light fixture right by the subject's head that detracts from the overall image. Dis most of your work aimed for print publications? Because if so that would make more sense and translate better (the tight cropping I mean). I think a lot of it comes down to how you aim to present the final image.
