Absolutely a scam, Kelly. Anyone that wants to send you more money than the job pays, wants you to take your share and pay others is a scam. Please review the excellent info that MM has provided on scams.

Yes, this is a very common scam.  The names change but the scam is always the same.

The check will turn out to be forged and your bank will charge your account for the full amount.  This is a very old scam predating the internet.

ETA:  Why would a company trust you, an internet stranger, with a large amount of real money?  Also, no reputable accounting firm would approve of business being done this way.

I received the EXACT same message, and email. I am contacting the local FBI. I'm so glad people posted this to warn others. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

They probably deleted your e-mail without reading it.

I see that you are new to M.M. That is why you get the scams. They just hope that you go for the bate.

My wife, now a retired teacher, had an aide who fell for a scam like that.  The woman deposited a $5,000 check she received by overnight courier, then turned around and forwarded a $4,000 check of her own to the address requested by the scammer.  Of course the check they sent her bounced. 

As a teacher's aide making slightly more than the minimum wage, her checking account had less than a $1,000 in it before she received the scammer's check.  Which meant that the check she sent them bounced and they received nothing for their efforts. 

But, the bank contacted local authorities.  She was prosecuted for bank fraud and went to jail for two years.  She is now a convicted felon and cannot work as a teacher's aide any more.

The authorities never bothered to go after the folks who scammed her.  Said she should have known better.

This never happened. Come on ppl,  really? You get scammed and therefore you go to jail? Get real...
