I feel like I can no longer look at my own portfolio objectively - I am bored with it.  Do I have too many images?  Are there weak ones that need to go?  How can I tweak it to make it more visually engaging and less same-y?

Your feedback is appreciated.

Nothing to be bored about. A nice portfolio. But I think you have too many images - 15 or so of your very best would be better (too many to look through now). You mentioned "same-y". That is one place to start thinning out your portfolio. It will be tough for you because you have few, if any, weak images.

Just one worthless opinion.  And best wishes!

+1

Also, with so many wonderful pictures, you can trim the even slightly less than perfect. If I had a studio and $$, I would hire you in a NY minute.

All the best.

I think you fashion and themed images are actually stronger than most of your artistic nude shots; to me, in the clothed pictures you seem to be posed more naturally and seem more confident and more beautiful; in many of the nudes I get the feeling you're overthinking them, which is a shame, because I think you have a very graceful figure, and I'd like to see your nudes look as natural and emotive as your other work.

As to the quantity, I think you can allow yourself more than 15 images, but for most models, less is more in the port; just be sure to have one or two excellent example images from each style/genre you want to seek work in -- in order to showcase your range and versatility -- and include at least one straightforward, classic headshot and at least one portrait showing you with an honest, approachable smile. Your portfolio is about marketing yourself well, and I don't know one photographer who doesn't appreciate working with a model who seems from the outset to be an easygoing, pleasant individual. A good smile photo tells that story to your intended audience.

Just want to say, you are really beautiful and you have such great hair!

also, I would say, that I think alot of your nudes actually are stronger than your fashion images, I think getting rid of all of the studio shots you have would be great in strengthing your portfolio. you look fine, but the fashion is very dated, and the photographer was not very good, it looks really amateur. where as alot of your nude photographs seem to be taken with photographers of more depth. also that black and white one at the top is kind of strange to have in a modeling portfolio, I think its better for a photographer.

When I look at a model's portfolio, my aim is to decide if there is enough evidence that she would be a good prospect to work with, and your portfolio fulfils that purpose abundantly, so it does not matter to me that you may have some photos that are less than brilliant as far as the photography goes because the photographer's ability and the model's ability are two separate things.

That being said, you do have plenty of photos in your portfolio, so it would not do any harm to thin out some of the technically weaker ones, but whether you or do or not would make no difference to me in deciding to work with you.

Thank you for the critique.  Could you give me an example or two, from my portfolio, of images that seem less natural/confident?

Thank you for the critique!  Can you link me to specific example of the above, so that I know exactly what you're talking about?  Many of my images are studio shots, it would help me to know which images I should consider removing.

You look fantastic but I agree with the member who spoke to your clothed fashion shots not being very good.   I'd personally trim things down to 30 images.   Images like this do nothing for you at all   https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37217384   Also try only using the best image unless its a series of images that group together to express a theme.   Maybe consider modeling outside of the studio more.   Are you near a lake or river?   It looks like you are working with some talented people.   In general shorter models tend to look better when shot from a lower angle.   Photographer lower then you but you broke that mold.

While you aren't a photographer you seem to have a artistic eye.   Check out this site for thoughts and ideals you can perhaps offer to photographers.  Many newer shooters and some established photographers like input from models:   http://illusion.scene360.com/art/53348/ … otographs/

Since you asked (someone else) for examples, I was able to pick out 20(!), which would still leave 48, more than enough.

Row 15 #2 Actually a better pose but you're too far away to see that it's you.

#3 Not a fan of upside-down faces, snapshot lighting, lovely smile.

Row 16  #1 Can't see your face

#3 Major ribcage, not a fan of those.

I hope this is helpful. Also, doing this list was a major logistical task because you have so many pictures. It shouldn't be that difficult for a potential client to find the one he/she wants.

Good luck and I love your work!
