uh, someone better lose their job over that blunder. they could have killed someone. still, it doesn't appear as though they did the setup, but just used an existing 'attraction' to near calamitous results.

Wouldn't have happened if the drummer had a gun.

Yes if all the drummers had guns this would never have happened

The thread title made me believe someone threw a guitar.

ha

Yeah, someone should get fired for that.  It could have been life-threatening.  The drummer is handling it pretty honorably all considering.
Safety anyone?

I was watching that on Fox here in the Philippines.  I think I must have missed that part.  It was pretty dangerous the other events that morning too.  Gotta love those wild kids at Fox.  Is it ratings month?

In a still from that incident, it appears there's a baby stroller directly beyond the target.

Fox News never ceases to plumb new depths of idiocy.

From the articles, it was a Lumberjack Contest, not a Fox News event.

I would say the person who is responsible for setting up the target and allowing anyone to be behind such a narrow and short target is an example of "new depths of idiocy."

Of course news reporters or commentators have never been filmed trying out a sport at an event, have they?

When they do, it's usually with the blessing of the station.

Seriously, you thought that this "lumberjack contest" was set up right outside the Fox studio and it had no cooperation from Fox? The Fox employee and a Fox cameraperson went out to participate in this "lumberjack contest" with the show's directors having no knowledge of this?

I referenced what the article said, that it was a "lumberjack contest."  You have offered nothing to the contrary except assumption that Fox was involved in setting up the unsafe condition (narrow and low target with people directly on the other side) that resulted in the axe hitting the drummer.

On Facebook, West Point drummer Prosperie wrote:
"My leadership told me they were told there would be no ax throwing,  I think the anchor person went rogue and decided to throw it. He had only thrown it once before in practice for an upcoming segment and they told him to throw it with more force."

He called it "obvious negligence" and said it could have been avoided.

"When shooting or throwing, always know what is behind your target," Prosperie wrote. "Basic safety rule. I'm feeling blessed on Father's day with my 5 children, alive, and with all limbs."

ETA:  Don't ax me!
