I am looking for something to apply to skin to create a texture for nude shots.
Some have suggested clay. Some tempera paint. some have suggested the masks used in spas.

Any one have experience with this and have ideas to share?

Definitely avoid tempera paint and clay.  They aren't made for skin, so they can be irritating.  Clay face masks are great for this.  You can look in any drugstore or big box store and find a good selection.  That way, you can choose something in the color range you prefer.

Second NO Tempera Paint. It's commonly used, but it's not makeup.

Method's I've worked with:
1) Add talcum powder to inexpensive liquid body paint.
2) Mix liquid body paint into clay mud mask.

The facial clay can also be bough in dry form - add your own water to taste.
