I'm in the early process of setting up a photography club focused on portrait photography, both studio and location, under the umbrella of the Southern California Association of Camera Clubs.

This is not a meet and greet, but a club to share ideas and techniques.  Live shoots every other month.

they have at least one portrait photo club down in San Diego.  I haven't been there in a couple of years.  Not sure who to contact but they are probably still around.

There are a couple of them, but they are pretty much just meet and greets. More of how big is your camera than an exchange of ideas.

I visited some of the clubs a long time ago.  I didn't have a problem with the other photographers. I thought everyone was friendly and I even used to do some lighting set ups.  lots of fun,  wish I could stop by again.  I thought the california photographers were very friendly compared to photo clubs around the world.  Most of the photo clubs I have been to are from meet up groups.
