Haha, yea... Last Halloween I decided to turn myself into Johnny Depp and everyone thought I was a legit dude.
I later created a makeup tutorial video on how to get the "mangy pirate" look and re-shot the face makeup with a photographer I know.
It's kinda weird but it was a lot of fun having a beard lol.

Nice tutorial, except you're using glue not designed for human skin. May not be a good idea to suggest to others that they use stuff that isn't supposed to be used like that.
Eyelash adhesive, spirit gum, prosaide, medical adhesive, latex; all easily available & reasonably priced, work beautifully & made to not hurt humans.

I got the idea to use the glue from a very popular drag makeup tutorial, plus it's non toxic and given to elementary kids to make arts and crafts with.

It's nice to know that all these people, plus thousands of others are wrong. But hey, thanks for being such a spoil sport, thanks to your negativity I learned that Elmer's glue is great for removing blackheads! Thanks! I'll make sure to include that bit of information in my next video! smile Have a great day you wonderful person you! wink

I also side on not using anything that isn't designed for humans on human skin.  it's just a precaution.  I don't think CC had any bad intention.  Thanks for sharing the video.  I did enjoy.

Glue Stick is very popular for brow blocking, that is true.
And there are many "big name pro" makeup artistes who use it in their kit.
That is their choice.

HOWEVER - Many of us advocate for the use of Cosmetic Products whenever possible in education.

Non-Toxic is NOT makeup.
Doesn't matter how many you-tube channels or artists use a product.
Doesn't change the fact that these craft store items were never designed for use on the skin.
Doesn't matter how mad or defensive people get at this fact.

Yes, reactions are extremely rare.
HOWEVER - We are making health care decisions for other human beings.
As educators, it DOES make a difference what kind of example we set - and regurgitation as education can get someone hurt.

Thank you, I honest had no idea as it was my first time ever doing this kind of thing. Your response was wonderful and educational and I very much appreciate that. If I decide to do another video I will try and use industry standard materials. Thank you again for taking the time to respond to my post smile

No worries.

You've got some serious skills... and many of us are all about "paying it forward".

And, many of us rely on You-Tube as an education resource.
And there is some phenomenal knowledge to be had there.
As well as some truly gasp-worthy *information*. (Sharpies on skin, acrylic paint for body paint, melting crayons for lipstick.... oh, the list, it goes on.)

Back to your project, the classic adhesive for beard laying would be a matte spirit gum.
Spirit gum is inexpensive... and doesn't really have a shelf life.

Well, considering the fact that I was trying to be polite & NOT tell you that you were saying something dumb, that's just a delightful attitude you've got there. Gonna go realllllllly far that way.  Maybe if I try sarcasm instead I'd get a different response.

I didn't take it as you being polite, I took it as a rude comment. I posted something and the only thing you could do was criticize the product I was using. I could understand if I was touting myself to be a makeup artist, a trained professional but I'm a hobbyist who did something fun and wanted to share it with the community. I didn't get the response I wanted at all, if anything I was hoping to get something about women dressing up as men. The only reason I made the video anyway was to show that the yarn wasn't hair I had stuck to my face.
Likewise, have a super fantastic day!

Thank you, I go to youtube whenever I need to some DIY or want to learn how to do something! Yes, some of it is common sense stuff of what not to do!
But thank you again for your very helpful input! smile
I will purchase some spirit gum and redo the costume when I am able.

Sorry but Cat’s comments didn’t strike me as rude either. She started with the words “Nice tutorial” and then pointed out a safety issue that you might not have been aware of. She also took the time to suggest safer alternatives so you would know for next time.
