I am looking for ideas...
I am taking a few pictures tomorrow for friends, they are a 2 piece band/music group. So they want some pictures for album covers. Here is the catch... they are in their mid 40s and dont want that to be blatantly obvious. They want me to try to come up with a way I can cover that. Or distort it. I have a black backdrop and a plain grey wall I am working with, so background swaps could happen. I cant do much with lighting tricks, because its just me (no assistant) and I dont have lights.
I thought about having them hold a glass of beer up or something, in front of their faces because that would distort.
I dont know. This is insanely hard! Does anyone have any ideas?

If you use Photoshop you can go to the Liquify filter and choose a number of tools to distort. The Forward Warp, Bloat and Pucker tool should work fine. Until you get the look you want just click cancel and start over. Good luck.

Im kinf of hoping to come up with a way to do it outside of photoshop, so it doesnt looks like I actually warped the face with software. If that makes sense... thats why I kind of thought shooting through a glass, but thats the only idea I can come up with.

A good retoucher can work wonders for a reasonable fee:

With inexpensive software, you can probably make surprising improvements.

Backgrounds won't camouflage their age.

Side lighting will emphasize wrinkles.  Soft frontal light will be the most flattering.

Why in the world would you want to hide their faces?

Its not me who wants to hide their faces lol, they asked for it. They dont want to look like old guys (their words) haha. I am planning on doing some where you can see their faces, and just retouching a bit to have it as an option, but if they end up disliking the ones where their faces are showing I want to have someone else to show them.

As I get older, my eyesight is getting poorer.  I distort a lot of the nudes I create.  Here are some examples:

All examples are almost 18+:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/26865162 -- Paint Brush effect again (but I like it)

All done with Corel Paintshop Pro -- there are tons of other effects available.

You might also be interested in Virtual Photographer, a free Photoshop add-in that has tons of effects that are fun for photographic images.

Enjoy.

Distorting and warping? Ugh!

When I want to camouflage age,I smooth wrinkles.  It isn't hard.

Can you shoot through something, like a sheer fabric or beaded curtain?

Nylon fabric is a good idea! You might want to think if you want a white, black or tan Nylon.

Get a piece of cardboard and cut out a cookie. The idea to shoot through a curtain or beading is good too.

I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound like you're looking for a makeup solution, so you would get more ideas if you posted in the photography forum.
