The two with the blonde girl! Was wondering from all of you photographers if the pictures are good quality for my portfolio. I know they're better than the snapshots I mostly have, but if you saw those pictures, what would your first immediate thought be? Would you think the makeup looked clean, etc etc *I have permission from the photographer to post! Apr 25 16 11:07 am Link I like your avatar better. ETA: The two new ones seem overexposed and washed out on my monitor. Apr 25 16 11:22 am Link Never been a fan of blasting the camera with the whites of the eyes, like looking for UFOs I see a variation in skin color between the upper chest area and the models face Watch your backgrounds, see how busy this one is? Harsh sunlight might not be the best lighting for displaying your makeup Like the last image of the set, but do you see how busy the background is, is the smoothing that was done in this photo by you or Photoshop? I believe you need to showcase your work better I wish you well Apr 25 16 11:58 am Link beautybykatealece wrote: My first impression would be that those aren't professional shots. Badly exposed and the color is off. I hope you didn't pay anyone for those. Apr 25 16 06:27 pm Link I agree, not impressed. As a makeup artist, none of those images are helping your cause. Apr 25 16 08:57 pm Link I think a lot of these shots show that you can do very good work. But I hope you didn't pay the photographer much to take them. Aside from the colour problem already pointed out, what am I supposed to conclude from this shot That exposure technique is a great way of making models look good *without* a mua because it blows the details of the face that a mua is supposed to fix. Beauty shows need skin detail, not its absence. Otoh this isn't a problem in those of your shots where you changed the very shape of this face - something you seem very good at. I'd want to work with you if you were near me! You really need to look for a photographer who can deliver skin detail. A ringflash isn't the only way to do these type of shots, but it's a good start. And imo shots that need to show the face in the detail you need should be take with a +200mm equivalent lens to get the right distance for perspective - so ask whether people have those items before doing tfp. If someone doesn't have a ringflash but has a good alternative lighting strategy and shots to back it up, that's fine. Apr 27 16 10:43 am Link |
