to help filter network traffic at the network layer.  The more I read up on DNS, the more I begin to understand just how powerful it can be in an effort to help I.T. managers.  So far, it's working nicely.  Plug in their DNS numbers in the router, and just sit back.

I'm in IT and I've setup OpenDNS servers as DNS for public-use computers. In the ideal world everyone would have a dedicated firewall but some of our smaller properties just don't have the budget for the hardware plus yearly fees. I used OpenDNS as my DNS on my work laptop for about a month because I forgot to remove them when testing and I didn't get blocked from any sites I used. Then again, I use my work laptop purely for work but even so, I don't really go to any fishy sites on my personal PC's either. I do see it as a good extra layer of protection.

We haven't paid for anything yet, not that the price isn't reasonable.  But we have been testing, and I like the Dashboard along with Stats too... wink

M.Bots.. that article was in 2014.  Think they have it fixed now?  Doesn't matter... I'm using Cisco's OpenDNS numba's..
