Hi!

I realise I'm relatively new and inexperienced at modelling but my small portfolio is starting to grow and I was hoping people might be able to give me some critiques/suggestions/thoughts at this early stage so I can act on them going forward.

I know there's not much to go on yet, just a few small shoots, but I'm very keen on hitting any bad habits people may see in my pictures or even my profile on the head early on so I can absorb the critiques and grow.

Thanks in advance,
Kat

For me, if you remove some of the similar images, keeping only the best will strengthen your portfolio.

Example you have 4 images in the same outfit keep only the best one
[Over all avoid clothing with big logos, or shirts with screen printing, simple solid colors are much less distracting]

Part of models right hand missing, right arm too straight, why are you looking off to the side? Right knee is locked.

You seem so small and not as sharply focused as you could be. [Avoide busy backgrounds, in this one you have many tree branches growing out of your head.]

Of the 4 photos this is the strongest, still room for improvement, but best of the 4.

Missing feet, branch growing out of your head.

You have 3 photos on the beach keep one, I would suggest the first.

Great legs, try not to lock your knees

The horizontal image is not showcasing you, show the world those long lovely legs

Your skin color appears off in this image, lips are a bit “Duck Billed”

As a model you have a lot to offer, working with a few exceptional photographers will help strengthen you portfolio.

Would love to see you add a great color headshot to your portfolio, show your big beautiful eyes to the camera so all can see them

I wish you well

Thank you for thorough analysis, I really appreciate it. Would you say there would be enough to go with if I were to cull out those duplicates or similar images that exist, as the portfolio stands at the moment? I intended to bring it down to one per shoot eventually but was concerned about not having done many shoots.

As for poise commentary, that's also super helpful, thank you! I've been practising with the aid of poise and expression videos but am always looking for direct critique of myself personally - I've yet to work with any professional photographers and would relish the opportunity to be more directed on a shoot, at least to begin with.

On the last image you mention - the headshot - I believe the photographer decided to alter the colour hue slightly, for her sake. Would it be preferential, for my portfolio, to ask for the unaltered version?

Many thanks again, very much appreciated

Kat

Hi Kat... too many images are the same - just post your faves, no more than 3 i the same outfit / style.

Try to make more of a projection of emotion to the camera - the foundation of each pose is your STAGE  ;-) and you are working on connecting to the camera from that ... from your core to the periphery.
