Back in 2011, after I found a storm drain with a metal grille over it that cast intriguing shadows inside the enclosure, I went there with a model and made one of my favorite pictures:

Last month, for the first time in the 12 years since then, I returned to that storm drain with a model (a different one). Not wanting to repeat myself, I tried out different compositions:

Have any of you returned to a place after a long absence and done new takes on an old theme? If so, please point us to the before and after.

Maybe your next shot in the series, eagerly awaited, could be Grate Expectations?

Or to misquote Ernest Hemingway: "The only way to do grate work is to love what you do..."

(Ouch.  Please accept my sincere apologies...)

But I certainly enjoyed the shots and the concept!

As a player with language myself, I appreciate your wording. If I were pretending to be irate, I could ask what the Dickens you mean by your comment.

As far as I'm concerned, wordplay requires no apology.
I'm glad you like the concept and its execution.

Not so much a specific location, but some special FX lighting techniques/concepts I’ve worked up seem to run over the course of a few years, each iteration a refinement on the previous based on….”oh wait, that was ok but i should have…

I haven’t updated port here in quite some time, maybe I should, but one example would be this:

Which was the first iteration of what became the “Smoke and Mirrors” series that I’ve been up to my hips in and currently is closer to this (NSFW):

Thanks for that example of your evolution in "Smoke and Mirrors." It's a good name.
