About Me

The photographs contained in this site are the property and copyright of the photographer and may not be copied, posted, altered on any website without approval by the photographer.  Models photographed by the photographer are allowed under contract to post said photographs on websites promoting their modeling career.

I am an amateur photographer.  I am working on my photo skills to set up a portrait photo business when I retire (soon hopefully).  I am also trying to develop my style as a photographer.  I am a chemist by profession.

I am using models right now to build up my portfolio and to practice with my studio lighting and with posing.  I do both natural light and studio light work, but I really enjoy natural light.  My favorite photographers are Richard Avedon and Tim Schooler (seniors photographer in Louisiana).  I photograph both male and female models, as well a couples.  I do basic portrait, fashion, and fine art nude.

Before I work with a model, I require a face-to-face meeting (interview) so that we get to know each other first (typically at a restaurant for lunch or dinner [my treat]).  I have a Model Release/Contract form based on a form from ASMP.  We do not schedule a photo shoot at our first meeting.  I want you to have time to think it over, consider the contract, fees, etc.  If you want to move forward, then we schedule a photo shoot.

I strongly believe in treating a model with dignity and respect.  I am patient and strive to make the photoshoot comfortable for the model.  I recommend that models bring an escort (at least for the first photoshoot), but I don't require it either.

Regarding compensation, I pay based on our negotiated rate.  I also pay a set rate for travel expenses, but I prefer to work with models who are in or within a 2-3 hour drive of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The Model and I will collaborate on the photo shoot.  We will discuss the different types of modeling and then base the photo shoot on the types of modeling with which the Model is comfortable.  If you have set types of modeling listed in your advertisements, we can cover those types of modeling to build or add to your portfolio.  I always supply some prints and re-sized prints on CD for paid models, but I will also do Trade for Photos/CD.

References from previous models with whom I have worked are available on request.

Feel free to drop me a note if you're interested in working with me.  I can't accept every request because I am not an ATM machine, but I will give you consideration and get back with you.

My philosophy of being a photographer is based on Leo Tolstoy's definition of art.
1.  Art is a form of communication and it is a means of expression of any experience or aspect of the human condition.  It can be a thought or feeling.
2.  Art is an expression of a feeling or experience in such a way that the audience to whom the art is directed can share that feeling or experience.  It is successful if the audience feels the emotion.
3.  Good art is intelligible and comprehensible.  Bad art is neither.
4.  The most important quality of any work of art is sincerity.

Finally, in the words of St. Jerome:
The face is the mirror of the mind, and eyes without speaking confess the secrets of the heart.
