I was thinking of buying some of that Bare Minerals foundation and all over color etc. Does anyone know how well it works? I have such a hard time finding foundation that actually works well and feels good and that I like!  Right now I use CoverGirl Oil Free and its okay but I dont really like the feeling/texture of it on my face. Thanks!

Personally, I don't think it was worth the money I spent on it. I've tried just about every type of mineral foundation out there, and I think Neutrogena Mineral Sheers is my favorite. Bare Minerals came to about $60.00, and the Neutrogena was about $10.00. I'm not saying it's not good, but after hearing so much about it I guess I just expected more. Good luck either way!

I dont think it is good for TV or Print... it has an opalesence finish to it, creates glare & shine... If I misspelled that opalesence word, forgive me, I do makeup not literature... xox Kimmie

I'm just looking for something for everyday use, but I suppose if it added shine in Print and Film it would add shine in real life too....I am just so fed up with my make up right now!

the blush, True, is okay..but everything in their line is shimmery....in sunlight you will look shimmery..not natural matte.  it's all pretty much a sales gimmick to get you to buy their montly plan of replenishment.  smile  you can buy better much better on your own, to be honest.  almay, neutrogena, loreal, cover girl, ponds, rimmel, you name it.

I bought the starter kit and I think it was a waste of money. The only thing I liked was their moisturizer. It was way too sheer you couldn't even tell the difference between wearing make up or not. I was definately disappointed considering the price.

Loreal's loose mineral powder is matte...and I usually use a light foundation moisturizer under it because it is so opaque.....the problem is with dark oily skin that particular powder greys out.

the only problem i run into is that with powders they look too uneven on my face and with liquid foundations they usually feel too cakey. ive tried neutrogena and i use CG now.

I think there are about 50 million threads about bare minerals. But!

If you want a mineral makeup - go with philosophy the supernatural (at sephora), or sheer cover - the colors are SO much better.... i would definitely lean towards philosophy, though.

As for foundations, if you're willing to spend the buckage, try out some armani foundations - I reccommend it to everyone - the color range is amazing and it feels amazing on your skin - i wear it every day all day and I never feel dirty or gross the way I did wearing mineral makeup...

im not specifically looking for Mineral makeup, i just saw the ad on TV and thought it might look better than what I use now.  I just want something that will look natural but not too natural and wont feel or look cakey.

Nope.  I have it and it makes my skin look like crap.  Maybe I should through it in the trash.

I love Salley Hansen's Spray on foundation.  I sray it on a spong and blot and blend it onto my face.  It looks great.

people either love or hate bare minerals. just go to sephora and try it before you buy it. it personally made me feel way to shiny. Tarte makes a pressed mineral powder that isnt bad. but i agree about philosophy...its alot better then bm.

Mineral makeup need to be played with I work with it alot and it can work wonders, you must be primed before, must be buffed to get a better coverage and more  dosnt mean better here, its all about the circular motion, and for how long it last and how much  purer it is its worth the  money, when you want to try it makesure you go to one of there counters in macys, nordstroms or there stores, you really need to have someone show you it who is trained by the company, and for those who dont like that theres a good amount of mica in it there is hinted a new line of matte foundations comming out, i know almost everything about bare minerals, any questions just ask.

I used it for a while, made me feel gross...it actually made me itchy. anywhere I had dry skin, it eccentuated it...and after using it for a period of time, I noticed my skin was getting more and more dry, itchy and red.
I finally tossed it, got off the mineral band wagon, and I now use my RCMA which I have no issues with.

I dont know why people seem to complain about it, it was one of the best buys, it lasts forever too. I was complimented on my skin EVERY DAY even by random strangers after I started using it on a regular basis. I never broke out, which i didnt much before but I basically never did after.

It shows up beautifully in photos and can dig some up of them if you want proof.

thanks

what about the elizabeth arden mineral makeup? has anyone used that (for personal use)

what does it look like on camera? i assume it would look crap cos of the spf 20..

i want to use mineral makeup as liquid clogs my poors and i get horrid acne from it.. (according to my dermatologist)

i have really pale skin that tends to be quite pink - so i want something that will balance it out.. i used the covergirl one *once* and it was so pink i can use it as a blush almost...

halp!?

I liked the Glo mineral pressed powder for everyday.
Its matte and not as messy as the loose.

Bare has alot of fillers in it like bismuth.
It also has alot of shine to it so it settles in pores and fine lines.
But I sold the crap out of it when I worked at ulta
Glo is sold in spas and I think whole foods sells it now too.
I quit wearing it because I started making my own.

I don't like it at all. It didn't give me a clear flawless look like liquid foundation gives me.

I LOVE it. I have sensitive skin which freaks out when I put anything on it... but the bare minerals has worked wonders. And, I've never been able to find make-up that matches and it matched perfectly. It evened out my darker areas and I LOVE wearing it because it feels like I've got nothing on.

My mom uses it also and swears by it. She is two toned and an odd shade also, and it matches and evens her out also. And, her skin is even more finicky than mine.

And, I've used in on shoots and the results were great.

I like it.  I use it on myself more than on the models I style.  It depends on the skin type.  If you have good skin to begin with, great. If you don't have good skin, don't use it.  Sometimes, depending on the model it can make the skin look dry in pictures.

I agree with your comment, people either love BE minerals or they hate it. As a former BE employee and my personal opinion; you really need to know how to use the product in order for it to do it's thing on your skin. A little does go along way, so if not properly buffed on or used too many minerals....then yes your skin can look problematic. Also, all of the BE products are not just based on "shimmer". Because BE wants your skin to have that illuminating/natural/air brushed look without applying so many products; the minerals are created to help give that "glow" look once it's counter-acted with your skin and oils. So......to use for everyday makeup if you need to, Yes.....for photo shoots, prints or tv/film, No! Hope that helps....smile.

I agree with you also. Depending on my clients skin, I will use minerals only if the skin doesn't require much coverage. Also depending if they want that natural "glow" look, I will also use the minerals. Me personally I also use the minerals; as much as I love cream foundations that give a matte/clean/fresh look, my skin is too sensitive to hold that product no more that 10mins. sad

A powder foundation I have been really happy with is Mary Kay mineral powder foundation. It looks natural, you can't feel it on your face, and I feel it photographs fairly well.   However, it doesn't work as well with models who have a lot of acne.

Awful stuff. Prone to user error. Shiny, pore and wrinkle magnifying. I can spot it from twenty feet away.
