Okay, so lately (and always) there have been so many requests like, "Retouching for beginners," and all that sort of thing. So I've decided to dig up all the tutorials that have helped me and taught me what I know today, which will hopefully come in handy for those photographers etc who are are always looking to learn retouching, and the beginner photoshop wiz's. I tried to make sure they are only top quality.

Okay so I've tried to put a kind of brief description next to all of these, but believe me, they're all pretty good.

VIDEOS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0IrnjfCgPQ  - Thankyou Sean R Baker! Explains the inverted high pass technique, always good. I personally tend not to move the contrast down, and I use a higher radius for the high pass, ie. 21 for high pass and 7 for the blur. Each to his own.

http://www.digitalphotoshopretouching.c … ir-retouch - a brief hair retouching tutorial thanks to natalia, this has to be a pretty good one, one of the few view-worthy free hair tuts out there.

http://vimeo.com/14344363 - this one's alright, it does however involve the use of portraiture, which is fine, but some mightn't appreciate that. Apart from that, it has some useful info in it.

http://vimeo.com/14381588 - a dodge and burn video tutorial, haven't watched the whole thing but seems pretty good from what I have.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CjhltYe7pM - a REALLY amazing excerpt from natalia's dvd which shows another example of the high pass technique, love this.

OTHERS

An awesome dodge and burn tutorial from Nienna here:

Part 2 -

http://everythingsmagic.deviantart.com/ … -124450837 - another dodge and burn tutorial from everythingsmagic

http://nienna1990.deviantart.com/galler … 3#/d1r92cq - another one from nienna, this time it also comes with a layered psd file for your pleasure smile

Okay, so those are all for now. Enjoy, and I hope you find these useful! Also, I didn't make any of these. Just collected 'em and put 'em here.

I really enjoyed Natalia's video excerpts. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CjhltYe7pM)

Unfortunately when I tried going to the link for the DVDs http://didrapost.com/index.php?newsid=698, it loaded a search page with random search words. I thought maybe the source code was messed and the the link displayed wasn't the actual link loaded so I typed that link in a new tab but had the same results. Has anyone else tried this link?

She is very clear and explains things in a concise way.

Thanks for the links Chennae!

In your 2/2 video at the end you create a color group and it appears to have a green layer set as the base from hue/sat I think then u add a levels above it what blend mode are you using and also why lol....

His videos are great! I have always done things the hard way with extracting with alpha channels or manual masking, never realized how easily I could have used the extraction tool. >.

Yes, when ever you add pixels in any way to an image (smudging, painting) you should always match the px noise of the image itself to avoid the "illustrated look"
