I might even report him to the police bc he's going for identity theft...Patricia Hudson is an author too, by the way, not a clothing designer. I feel bad for the poor person who falls into his trap Feb 22 07 01:12 pm Link You definitely should report this to the police as well as the moderator for model mayhem and have him removed. You should also inform any other modeling site moderator you are a member. Feb 22 07 01:15 pm Link Send him this info: Full name and address Georgie W. Bush Washington, DC Phone number (987)654-3210 Social security number 012-34-5678 Mother maiden name Barbara Bush date of birth July 6, 1946 See what he does with that. LOL. I know it was talked about on OMP. I have gotten a couple of these things. Another one that is very similar to this is the one where they tell you it is an overseas assignment and they will send you a money order for you to cash for the plane ticket and you need to send the money back to them... then it turns out to be a stolen or "washed" check. Its very similar to the "romance" scams. i guess the thing to keep in mind is that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is Feb 22 07 01:26 pm Link I think they should have a model matters forum, I'm new and if all these little heads up were not on here, I wouldn't have a clue. Thanks to all you girls who help us new ones. Feb 22 07 01:28 pm Link Simply tell him to fork over a cash retainer for the full amount before you are able to provide him with any information. Also as a pre-requisite, you will need all the aformentioned information about him so that you may also conduct a full criminal background check. In addition to that information you will need to know his blood type, bank account number and at least one credit card number with experiation date and those three fancy digits on the back. Oh, and don't forget to tell him to check his horrendous spelling. Feb 22 07 01:34 pm Link i'm going to tell Tyler Feb 22 07 01:39 pm Link Someone that falls for something like this will be a poor beginner, that personally worries me. On my main site I have a model safety and Top Tips section. Before anyone even makes an arrangement to see me for possible management I make them read it twice ten times if they have to and that's before they have even filled out a stat form. May I please make a suggestion; How about producing a model safety and advice section on MM. Prevention is always the best cure for this type of scam. New young models (Male and Female) joining any open forum will be the most vulnerable. I speak through experience harking back to my ambitious teenage modelling years when I was equally as hungry to achieve my goal. Ok, for the experienced people that have been in the industry for a while on MM; Shall we start making a list for the MM Modelling advice and safety page? Warm Regards Andreas Cromer, Norfolk, UK Feb 22 07 01:47 pm Link Also, wouldn't 4,500 be an awfully large percentage of a $10,000 job like the one portrayed? Feb 22 07 01:49 pm Link This is yet another version of the Nigerian Scam. www.newmodels.com/Nigeria.html There is nothing new about it. It has been reported by someone, breathlessly, an average of once a day since the beginning of Model Mayhem. And every single time, people act like they have never heard of it before. Sometimes I just don't get the point of writing about these things. Feb 22 07 01:56 pm Link Carla Jean wrote: Ah, a young model thinking on the same lines, good start, the most productive comment so far. Excellent Idea about a model matters forum but a solid advice and safety page will be set in stone for people to read. Infact, as part of the joining process? It may even act as a deterrent. Feb 22 07 01:58 pm Link Diana Marie wrote: Now that you have worked up a perfectly good snit . . . . Feb 22 07 02:06 pm Link Sounds to me like it is pretty easy to make a living in Nigeria. Regards Robert Well i hope this helps some ppl and look out for idiots like this!! If you have any questions you can email me at [email protected] take care!!! May 08 07 03:36 pm Link Yeah, I've gotten the same e-mail from someone claiming a different name (Robert Barts), a while back. I sent him a couple of messages asking for references, etc., as I already knew it was a scam, but wanted to mess with him a while. I even told him that the only way I could work with him is if he sent the money to my lawyer through certified US money order, because my bank burned down... In the end, I ended up sending a message letting them know that I knew it was a nigerian scam, and that they had been "found out" by quite a few people. Needless to say, I never got a response! Just never give these people any information that you know they could use against you for anything. You don't want to end up a few thousand dollars in debt like I've heard of happening to some people. It's sad to think that some people are actually gullible enough to fall for this crap. May 08 07 03:57 pm Link This is truly sad, that people go after folks like this or in any manner, is just a bleak look at the lowest common denominator of humans, and what some folks will stoop to. Luckily, I just got emails that I have been lucky enough to win a Dutch Lottery, they have just had trouble getting a hold of me. Thank god they did, cuz now I can just leave it all behind and go collect my millions, as I seemingly have won this and several other lotteries in the Netherlands. Thank god I dont have to worry about these predator types anymore..I AM RICH. But you guys be careful.......
