This is the discussion of a models goals, because choosing to apply to Penthouse or Hustler will alter her modeling career. You are turning it into some personal thing that it's not. This is an industry discussion. Please keep it that way. Like it or not - the trend is toward showing more, not less . . . even at Playboy. They are ALL part of the same porn industry. At least Penthouse and Hustler don't have pretentions to be something other than what they are. And . . . HOW DARE YOU paint such an ugly picture of Penthouse Pets?!?!?!?!?

Wow, maybe you should step back and take a deep breath. If you can do that while avoiding hyperventilation perhaps a little brushup on reading comprehension would enhance your experience here as well:

At least Penthouse and Hustler don't have pretentions to be something other than what they are. And . . . HOW DARE YOU paint such an ugly picture of Penthouse Pets?!?!?!?!? Are you dating a Penthouse Pet or something? lol I'm painting a picture of the industry in general. This is PORN. When you cross a certain line, the industry changes. Playboy has managed to keep at least the outward illusion of that line not being crossed, because that's their gimmick, "Nice girls like sex too". They have created a name large enough that even girls would would never get nude in another magazine, will get nude for Playboy. Now we all know this is most certainly an illusion and the things that happen behind closed doors there would shock a lot of Playboy fans. Regardless... they keep an image of a classy lifestyle that just happens to include naked women. Once you graduate to Penthouse and beyond, the game changes. It becomes more about money, in the model's eyes, and less about the experience. You do more because you make more. You get addicted to the money and soon you are drinking and often abusing drugs to get through a scene. Now there are definitely girls that this doesn't happen to, there are definitely girls (like Jaime Hammer) who have strict boundaries and will not let themselves be duped into doing something they aren't proud of. But she lost a lot when she gave up her title, and most girls wouldn't have the strength to do that. And there are some women who know exactly what they are doing, have no qualms about it, and retire by 35. Sunny Leone is a great example of a girl with her head on straight. These are not the norm. Stop sugar-coating the industry, it's disgusting. Girls should know what they are diving into.

I've shot for both Playboy and Penthouse. In my experience, Penthouse has more artist-friendly terms than Playboy who always try to own all of everything. Penthouse generally has bought better work from me and Playboy has paid in a more timely and complete fashion, although admittedly Penthouse did go bankrupt in the middle of owing me dough. Penthouse has a stronger web base today, I think, than Playboy. A lot of models think that doing Penthouse, or Playboy, or getting any of a variety of other individual credits, will totally change their lives. It won't. The way to advance your career is mostly to keep working and then work some more. And, just in case anyone has forgotten this factoid the last five gajillion times someone mentioned it on here, BOTH Playboy and Penthouse put out hardcore and softcore under their primary brands.

That's laughable man. I think you kind'a wish you were shooting for them. Why go after the shooters on here. Sounds like you want them to use ugly models with the best shooters in the world? They are trying to sell these lame rags.

I think both magazines were much better before boob jobs existed. Some of the centerfolds of the 60's and 70's are absolutely stunning...

I agree that the NSFW shots posted above are nice, but both appear to have scarring around the nipple and the silicone boob job was invented in like '61 or '62 and saline shortly thereafter. Fashions for styles and shapes of plastic surgeries do change over time, though.

If it's someone on a photography site and all of the results are from OMP, MM and the like my question is pretty well answered ...

Teri Weigel went from Playmate of the Month (Miss April 1986) to a pretty good career in porn. (we now return to our regular discussion of PB vs PH)

Stephen Hicks or Ken Marcus (who has a profile here on MM)??? I have an account on OMP and two profiles here on MM - I even used to have an account on Musecube. But I do have at least one Penthouse and one Playboy model on my portfolio, so . . . HAH!

My wife just picked up a German version of Playboy while on holiday in Portugal ( I know, don't ask). I was surprised how tame the pictures were and indeed how formulaic. I haven't seen a Playboy for at least 30 years but this looked tamer than the 70s version. Good articles though, pity I can't read German! John

Both magazines have a formula, both magazines are porn (IMO) And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I personally pefer to spend my cash on Penthouse but I do splurge for a celebrity issue of Playboy As, far as which I would like to model for? I'd do both. I like being naked and I am not afraid of my sexuality. (I'm not saying that any of you are) Thats just me...
