I am needing a hotshoe to PC connector and was wondering if they were all pretty much the same?  I saw several different ones listed, but wasn't sure if brand is a factor.

Thanks

The basic Hotshoe/PC connectors are pretty much all the same barring materials used.  Some are cheaper than others.  There are also safesync connectors that include a voltage regulator to limit the sync voltage to under 6 volts for digital cameras.

Ok thanks guys. I was somewhat worried about the voltage, since I have both an old film SLR and a newer DSLR to use it with.

Most modern studio flashes has a 5 volts trigger voltage, only the old studio flashes uses 12 volts!

If you are worry, use a radio trigger, I know the Bowens pulsar is 3 volts.
That way you could avoid high voltage going through your camera via sync lead!

But you would then have to worry about what voltage the receiver was exposed to.
