Hello guys, am thinking of buying a power pack to over power the sun with, being that am trying to get into outdoor photography.
I have been looking at the Profoto-7b 1200ws.
flash durations of 1/1400-1/3000s.
what do you guys think, would it do the job?
I tried looking for the alien bee brand, but we don't seem to have it here in the UK.

the 7b is truly a great portable unit although I wouldn't say it is better than the Hensel Porty or the Elinchrom Ranger of the same output power. You will want to have a carrying bag with wheels because of the weight wink.

Overpowering the sun is easy.  Overpowering the sun with a 7-foot octobox from 15 feet is not (and will require a LOT of power).

What are your requirements?

OK, just keep in mind that it may not meet your needs.

Not to thread jack but what would u suggest for this from the profoto, speedatron, broncolor, or Hensel family.

Im starting to rent these packs to learn more about using packs and my next lighting system to invest in (currently have profoto Compact 600 which cant totally overpower the sun directly, but can battle with it with just the reflector), and the 7b is big on my radar.
