in a lot of fashion photos i see that the models' skin
is almost white/silver with very strong light..i dont think
its only about the lightning while shooting its because of the
editing can anybody teach me how i can do this
effect in photoshop cs2?  smile
thank you!

Increase the luminance for the Red, Orange and Yellow channels with a layer mask on the face, but it starts with good lighting.

If you are shooting RAW, you can edit individual luminance channels separately. Most of my adjustments are done in ACR, so I don't know how to go about making these changes in Photoshop.

That look can also be achieved using the channel mixer. Change the image to monotone, reduce the red and increase the green (green is best for skin tone). Make sure the values add up to 100%. Then decrease the opacity of that layer. You will see how it can make the skin look steely gray, but it also subdues other colors, such as in the lips and eyes.

I can't stand Lara, photoshops more then she photographs.

none of those pictures look difficult, probably shot high key too.

lol i think some people are just really white tongue but what people are saying above about raw processing is how i would handle it. i suppose a really simple solution would be to desaturate and bright the skin a bit, but some photoshop wizards may think that's a little barbaric. tongue

I think of using a dark brown color layer, or at least that's the way I'd do it, along with the channel mixer.

that's just my opinon though.

Throw up a difference mask for the midtones, you can bring up the red and green channels to taste depending on desired skin tone with a curve adjustment. This should be slight, the key to this effect is good lighting, with a moderately large lighting ratio on the face.

It's better to enhance what you have in-camera than to fake it on a normal image. You'd end up washing out details, etc.

Control specular highlights with good makeup.

I agree, but then my 500mb out of camera (with a lot of layer) images disagree.

My newer images are right there with you, don't worry. 300mb+ on average.

Which is why I just said fuck it and started to shoot more film - less fucking around in a way, and more in other ways.

Also, I guess it helps to preview things in black and white on camera, then you can nail the lights (and no not nail the model, not yet) to make life easier later.

Ways I would say to make skin like that; makeup, don't go out in the sun, there is a way to bleach your skin so it's lighter then your natural skin color, and I'm not sure about photoshop maybe just select the girls skin and lighten it.
