I just had a Samlex 300w Pure Sine Wave inverter fail on me, and in talking to the Samlex guys, if was because I was using it with an AB1600.

The Samlex 300wPure Sine will power an AB400, but for an AB1600w you'd need at least a 1000 watt inverter (to maintain the life of the unit).

The Samlex guy said he thinks Alien Bee has modified the circuitry of the unit they offer to accommodate the power load on 800's and 1600's.

So, for the $$$, it's just better to buy the AB inverter. (Samlex 1000w inverters go for about $450)

I second the Innovatronix.  Good stuff.  They have newer models out now since I purchased mine a year and a half ago.  Better stuff.
