Some companies hold these contests to collect images for many purposes, perhaps even for resale as stock.There are many such contests out there, this one is making the rounds of the pro forums, so be sure to always read the fine print, and if you can't find the fine print, beware. We should bombard them with less flattering images, perhaps things like middle fingers, the dog cleaning itself, etc.

The terms "Winner" and "Contest" have been horribly diluted over the years.

Even Popular Photography magazine, which you'd think would have respect for photographers abused them instead:

check out item 6, where it states that all rights transfer to them for ever and ever, and the Maui vistitors folks can use it forever, too.
