This if my biggest goal at the moment. I have tried out for 4 different agencies, and I didn't get any replies.
Is it my look? My height? Measurements?
What do you guys think it is?

Your height and measurements are semi ok, not fabulous, but close to standard.
So you'd have to blame your look.

I think you have great potential.  More & better pics and give it some time.  The holidays is a terrible time to get anything accomplished.  Associate with positive and supportive people.  Hang in there baby.

Well, from experience I know that most of the agents I am with like a minimum of 5'9 and I have noticed that a lot of them also do not like hips over 34.  I am 34 so I barely slip by.  Agents can be very picky.  What were the agencies?  Maybe you started out too big.  Sometimes you have to go local before you can get into the big leagues like ford, elite, IMG, wilhelmina, Next...etc..

I would have to agree with Iris. You don't ALREADY need professional photos when submitting to an agency. I didn't have professionally done photos and I was signed on-the-spot to my current agency in New York.

I would say though that sometimes your look can work against you. Depending on the agency or the locations of the agency, they only sign a certain amount of girls who look a certain way; they may only sign a hand full of girls with blonde hair and green eyes. It just depends on who they market to.

Like Tropic says, just hang in there. This time of year can really suck for trying to get signed or for trying to get work for that matter. Stay determined. When one door closes, another one will open up eventually.

I'm trying to slim down and it worries all of my friends and such. My legs are also fairly strong. I used to figure skate. I have issues sad.

You're at the bottom end of the height scale & nearing the upper end of the age range for fashion/runway.

You're not in a great market for a lot of other things.

If you want to get signed you have to have the build & the looks AND be where the jobs are.

I've been in this boat before with my own (critique) forum, so I totally feel for you and will give you a real critique and not just crap on you as you will find a lot of people do on here (everyone, btw, don't repost my quote and crap on ME, I'm just saying that a lot of people on here just shoot you down and don't give any real advice...if you really just feel like trying to kill someone's dream (or hobby, you never know) either don't post or at least attach something useful that the model can use).  That being said...
I think that you have strong features and the height, but if the photos that you have on here are any indication of what you've been sending to agencies, that's going to be your problem.  Try to find better photogs and be willing to pay a pro to build up your port.  I would also suggest that you work a little more on your expressions and maybe not have so many super make-up shots.  (BTW I hear the expressions advice all the time from awesome photogs, so I really think that's the key... smile  )
Hope that helps and good luck!  I think that you could get signed if you really want it and work for it!

That's because Jett, like a lot of small regional boutique agencies, makes a lot of money selling portfolios & charging you to be in their "model searches."
They say on their site that they don't represent many people but they're happy to allow everyone to apply so they can get your $.

I am not familiar whith those personally so I cannot give you advice for that but I can tell you that agencies change their perspective on what they are looking for all the time.  You just have to keep trying.  Some of my agencies I am with I had to submit to multiple times before they would even interview me.  That is just how it is so keep trying!!  If that does not work...try other agencies.  There are all kinds.  You really have to submit to a lot of agencies.  It is kind of like college.  You do not just apply to one and hope you get in.  You apply to many and go from there!  Maybe one will like you or maybe 3, you just never know.  Do some research and look up all the agencies that you are willing to work with and start sending in your pictures smile  Good luck hun!

Ok girl, my thoughts: (for what they are worth...maybe nothing haha)

(The below advice applies if you're looking to be a fashion model)

You are at the bottom of the height range, this means that the agencies have to love your look even MORE.  It also means that you need to lose a bit of weight.  Desired stats for a fashion model are 34-24-34 and there are no shortage of girls who fit these requirements that are 2 and 3 inches taller than you are.  To have the same silhouette as the 5'10" girls when you're 5'8" you need to be even skinnier.  So that's the first thing.

Second, I agree you need a hair change.  Try checking out models.com, or browsing the girls on some top agency websites to give you ideas and find something you like.

When you've toned a bit and changed your hair, have your mom or a friend take some snapshots, you in a bikini, with a simple background.  Clear face shots, profile and full body.

But hurry, unfortunately, time is not on your side sad

36 inch hips.....should be 34...but thats not the issue...

while you are an attractive young woman..you are not striking...
you are GND....so not really agency material...

develop a commercial print port and how you can contrubute in selling a product or service....then you might get their attention..

Besides the usual slimming down a bit, one thing that may help you is improving on your poses and expressions. Spend a lot of time posing in the mirror. Having great abilities can help make up for where you fall short.

Don't model cause thats what other people expect. you have to model because you want to...
anyway.. agencies are hard to go by. It depends on the agency and what kind of look there looking for. Even though you do not need professional pictures.. it might be beneficial to do more high fashion poses or beauty shots just to show the agent what your look is really capable of.

its your face honey.  you don't have a fashion face, you need large, wide cheeckbones, hollow cheeks, wideset eyes (yours like mine are too close together).  you have a nice commercial look and could try smaller modeling where you live. but i wouldn't try to make a career out of it.  I've had the same problem with fashion, but i've been able to work in fashion thanks to my height, location and agressivness.
you are still very pretty btw.

This site is really interesting for showing what are the facial features of a fashion model (they compare fashion models to glamour models)
http://www.femininebeauty.info/fashion- … e-features
At the end of the page you'll have links for other features a fashion model does have.

For the rest, send pictures to agencies. Normal, plain pictures of you with a natural light. Try it! If they refuse you ask if you can improve yourself ; can you change something to want them working with you or is it a categoric NO?

And just a point for the 34" hips : don't loose weight till you reach this. A lot of agency models have stats that are 35" hips. It's all a matter of proportion. You would need to tone up yes. But statistics are what they are. It's a matter of what your body looks like and if you enter certain standards. Look at the comp cards of models in the agency you want to apply. It will give you a good idea of what they are looking for.

If you do all of this, at least you will have tried! If it works, that's pretty cool for you!!!
Edit : it's not because 4 agencies don't reply that you'll never get in. Try to go to their open calls. Sometimes e-mail are not that good.

Anyways, with your height, stats and features, if it doesn't work, you could go towards commercial modelling. It's really interesting and I read that there is more money to do there. There are always options. Sometimes you'll have to give up some ideas you had but you can surely do something if you really want to.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

I know I'm and inch short of the minimum height for runway, but editorial starts at 5'8. I don't understand why agencies even make the minimum 5'8 when all they really want is 5'10+.

Besides height, body type and looks there are many reasons models get turned down.

Big agencies do not have time to un-do bad habits. Models with natural poise, move well and new are easier work with in front of the camera than a model who's worked only with photographers who "pose" them. Natural moods and energetic personna that shows in snapshots are best.

you've gotten a lot of answers here. you not wanting to accept them doesn't make them any less accurate.  everyone's got gifts.  make the most out of the ones you were given and cut your loses on the ones you weren't.

There are a LOT of people who look at a pretty girl and say "honey, you should model."

Unless the people saying that are also:

1) Agency bookers/owners
2) ad execs
3) Agency quality (and agency connected) photographers

then they don't know shit.

If you want to find out if you are agency material, do some research and WALK INTO about 10 agencies during their open call.

If you don't get accepted, wait 3 months and do it again (adding some new agencies).  And again.

After a year, if you are still not signed, you have your answer.

I think you have a good look.  You are a little short for runway.  Maybe try changing up your hair, its very lifestyle/commercial I think.  I think agencies look for models who have a look that is chameleon-like (if that makes sense).  If a model has the ability to change her looks relatively easily, then they will get booked for more jobs.  Maybee?

Thank You DIgi, But I doubt she is going to actually listen to your VERY insightful information
This is another case of ," can I be signed/a model/ supermodel/Victoria secret model/Abercrombie &fitch model,  and I do NOT CARE if you say NO i cant be cause I don't care and will do it anyway." kind of Thread. I just had one with a midget Asian Girl asking if she could be JUST a BEAUTY model.Which is not Possible.
But they dont care what the actual real honest to goodness experienced AGENCY LEVEL PROFESSIONALS have to say , They are going to do it because MISS_________ (fill in the blanks IE , Kate Moss, or some MM member ) did it and they weren't Agency Height /standards ,etc , their egos are so super inflated that they have lost any kind of reasoning and logic that they MAY have had.
They forget that they are not good looking enough nor uniquely beautiful enough for an agency to sign them or for them to even become more then a WEB WANNA BE. I call TROLL / I WANT ATTENTION on all of these type of threads.
If they were serious they wouldn't be wasting their time asking a lot more 'non agency pros' , if they have what it takes to 'make it'. 'Make it' how?
'make it' , where? 'make it' , what?
Stop the threads and GO TO A REAL LEGIT LEGAL MODELING AGENCY AND FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES. GO FIND OUT HOW MUCH MORE HARSH THEY ARE THEN ANYTHING OR ANYONE ON MM CAN BE TO YOU, You WILL HEAR THE HONEST TRUTH FROM THEM .

Attention troll .
