Maybe it's me but I didn't know there was a world specifically of tattoo modeling.
There're models WITH tattoos, and tattoo publications post pics of tattooed people.
But someone who models tattoos or is called just to model the ones s/he has?
Not so much.

I didnt mean modeling tattoos. No need to be rude or a smart ass. I meant as in tattoo magazines and such.

one way to go about it is to find a good tat artist to do some big work on you and be their walking portfolio... i have a couple clients who i do that with, and i'm going to be using pics of them as mag showpieces.

yes, i actually work at a tattoo studio, and my boss, always uses the big pieces that he does kn someone fro publication and credit. and he states who the person is. and, a lot of well known shops are in touch with tattoo mags. so maybe just go in and ask questions (go into a shop)

I would go with somebody else.  The GQ's have soooo  many rules, like who you have to be friends with and such and they don't even promote you, but expect you to promote them (I'm a former GQ), nor do they allow nudes or implied nudes.  I don't know too much about the SG's except from what I heard from a former SG who told me that they didn't want to let her out of her contract because they told her that the tattoos she got while she was under contract, they owned.  I don't know from first hand experience, but that's what she told me.

Go to Inked Magazine online and anyone can join the inked girls page. Submit a pic with your ink. I had them come to me and worked with them in Aug...

SG have very strict contract and ive heard this from alot of people its why i turned down there contract

i dont know much as im new to the tattoo world (i used to be into scarification and piercings) but from my last 2 years of research into it conventions seem to be the best idea, get a really good tattoo (it has to be a great design in a good placement by an awsome tattooist, random small flash work wont get you anywhere) and travel conventions entering compertitions, most tattoo mags will send a tog to each convention to photograph the event its the best way of being discovered
hope that helps

My tip is to not have stupid crappy tats on you.

I think long and hard about each tattoo I get for good reasoning. smile

I'm a former SG and I got a ton of ink while under contract and they never had a problem when I left. I also had a ton of sets which is hard for girls nowadays .

Anyway- I suggest looking like sabrina Kelly.

Shoot with photographers who have tattoo magazine credits.

Get inked by well-known tattoo artists.

Continue getting quality tattoos done.

Lots of photographers, magazines and alt agencies if you do a quick search.

And before the anti-tattoo people get started...

My best advice for anyone looking to get into alt genres is to invest in working with a few superb photographers to build your port. There are several reasons for this:

1. You will get high quality magazine worthy photos
2. It's a form of networking. Yes, you're paying the photographer, but you will also be working to expand your budding brand. There's a good chance the photographer can inform you about upcoming projects. Feel free to tell the photographer to use your images on their social networks. Boom more publicity for you.
3. Ask the photographer if they submit to any publications or look for a photographer who contributes to tattooed magazines that you admire.

If funds are tight or if you're looking to save to work with a photographer you can still try to find someone to collaborate with. Follow your favorite tattoo magazines and submit the collaboration for publication consideration.

Remember to start small if you take this route. Chances are you won't snag the cover of Tattoo magazine on your first try, but you can certainly have goals to reach for.
