I was selected to work for a company called wagaami as they are currently opening up in New York.  Apparently, it's like an escort service minus the sexual part, they pay $25 and hour with a 4 hour minimum to show people a good time in the city or go to things like movie premiers or company diners.  I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with them, from what they told me in my interview, they've been around in L.A for quite some time. The people who interviewed me were really polite and professional and told me they usually only hire models and actors.

They all say that!

That way when an employee is busted for prostitution, the company can say "we never allow such activity", making it much more difficult for law enforcement agencies to shut 'em down.

( I'm not stating or implying that wagaami is operating in the same manner as other escort services, and they probably are promoting a non-sexual service.  I'm just stating that the typical escort service will also make similar claims... wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

I know about that but the website takes great pains to ensure that people don't get the wrong idea and the pictures of the girls are non-sexual. check it out www.wagaami.com

The background music reminds me of a porn flick... to me, they seem to state a little bit too clearly that their services are completely non-sexual. Typical sign that their business might not be as innocent as it seems. Probably you get hired on paper to have dinner, play tennis and whatnot with their clients, and what happens after dinner between you and the client is your own responsibility, should you get caught. In other words, no one will be there to bail you out and protect your ass. If you have no intention of letting anything happen beyond what is stated in your contract with the agency, you will probably find yourself out of work most of the time.

Stay away. How did you even find them? A friend of mine was a phone girl for an escort service for a while, and this website looks kind of like theirs did.

But I also googled them and the reviews were pretty consistant with the whole platonic thing.  Plus, the guy who interviewed me told me that should I feel uncomfortable at any time, I can leave with full pay.

I like that they refuse to allow anything away from public places.

Unless you're earning upwards of $1500 per event to just look pretty, listen to the client talk, laugh, speak knowledgeably on recent events and make the client feel important (a la american geisha) there is an expectation from clients who only pay a few hundred dollars that the rest of their money can be spent in the form of "tips" for other activities that are "off the books". Even if it's not sanctioned or "allowed", it's a topic that will come up more than once. Especially if there's alcohol and groups where there's more of them than you and no escort/bodyguard is provided by the service.

Best people to ask are the other escorts and even then unless you meet them in person and they believe you're not part of a sting operation, you're likely to get a standard response at first.

Speaking from a broad amalgamation of experience. One of them being my time spent as a roady (aka bodyguard for professional escorts) to a similar service.

Not knowing your background, education or experience it's hard to say why they picked you. If it was only based on looks/age - it's a mark against them and not something I'd recommend. The younger, less diverse (also interpreted as less educated or experienced) you are the more expectation from the client you'll "put out" somehow or can be pressured/talked into a "one time indiscretion".

But as I said at the top, higher paying clients tend to be more respectful. But are unlikely to pick an escort that can't bring something more intellectual and stimulating to the table besides good looks. There are always exceptions, but hopefully this will inspire you more to find the answers you're looking for.

Bottom line? Just say no. smile Good luck with whatever you decide to do! Don't let the almighty dollar lead you down a path wisdom can't retrieve you from.
